To My Childhood Best Friend

I hope you're doing well.

Some of my best childhood memories were made with you by my side. The sleepovers, the gossip, the embarrassing pictures - all of it. I wouldn't be who I am today without the influence of you in my life. While we were friends, you encouraged me to be my best self and follow my dreams. Remember the 5th grade talent show? We'll save that embarrassing story for the memories. You were there for me through it all, even the worst parts.

For most of my life, you were my go to gal. We told each other everything and were basically inseparable. People knew us as a pair, never one without the other. We were more than best friends, we were family. I'm not sure what happened to that and when exactly things started going wrong, but maybe it was for the best. We grew as people and in that growth, our paths separated.

Our friendship ended in a less than friendly way, and believe me when I say I wish I could go back and change that. The last couple years of our friendship were rough and we were both at fault for that. We tried to force something that was never meant to last forever. Life got in the way and before we knew it, we were two completely different people with nothing in common. I just regret how we let it end.

People still ask me how you're doing and it's hard to tell them that I never see you. Don't get me wrong, I still faithfully stalk your social media and try to keep up with your life, but it's not the same. Occasionally, I'll find an old picture of us and it brings back so many memories. We were such a huge part of each other's lives. Sometimes I wish we could pick up where we left off and try again, but we're both adults now with lives of our own. It would be a lot different.

One day, when I have children of my own, I hope they're lucky enough to have a friend like you. I hope they find a partner in crime to stay up all night laughing with. Someone to make memories with. Someone to stay by their side through thick and thin. Someone just like you.

Even though we're not the friends we once were, I'll always be here for you. I'm only a text message away. I promised you that a very long time ago but it's a promise I'll always keep. I hope your life is everything you hoped it would be and I hope you accomplish all of your goals. You were always one to dream big and I hope that never stops. You're an amazing person who deserves nothing but the very best.

Maybe our paths will cross again someday, but until then, I hope you're doing well.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
