Only a month into the new year and news from 2015 has carried over for possible future fashion decisions. Rumors have circulated every fashion publication and firm. As designers have quit their position, they left Creative Directing Positions open and available for the rising designers. Every street style or blogger has covered every detail of this, but I wanted to share all the opposing rumors, future possible designers and decisions that can change the face of some companies.
As the ending of 2015 left us with sadness and some relief, we look back on people that have left the industry to serve it in a different way but same access. We all know Wang left Balenciaga, which was a brand that made him so famous and encouraged him to start his own brand. He left the brand to work on his own. After this fashion rumor was confirmed quickly, Raf Simmons announced he was leaving Dior to work on his Menswear line and Lanvin lost Alber Elbaz due to his long career at Lanvin. Shortly after, Grace Coddington leaving Vogue left the fashion industry in tears.
Now for the real rumors...
Whether they have been proven or not or just circulating every fashion publisher ever, here are some potential job promotions.
After Raf left Dior, he wanted to expand his Menswear passion. Rumor has it he is taking his talents to Calvin Klein, as Creative Director, taking the place of Francisco Costa who has worked there since 2003.
Phoebe Philo leaving Céline: Philo left Chloé when her work there was done and completed. She has the same feelings towards Céline. Things die out quickly in this fast-paced fashion world.
Now that Lanvin is left alone, Erdem Moralioglu is taking Alber Elbaz's place. Erdem has many creditable accomplishments that make him right for the position as Creative Director. He has his one ready-to-wear line, sold in Barneys, Bergdorfs, Dover Street Market and more. Studied at Royal College of Art in London and remained in London to receive many awards for his designs. He was recognized by CFDA and won the following awards: The 2008 British Fashion Council’s Fashion Forward Award; the 2010 inaugural Vogue/British Fashion Council Designer Fashion Fund Award, the 2012 British Fashion Council’s New Establishment Award, the 2013 British Fashion Council’s Red Carpet Award and the 2014 British Fashion Council’s Women's Wear Designer of the Year Award. He is more than fit for this position.
Now that Dior is also open for grabs, Sarah Burton rumors to have taken it. Burton is Creative Director at McQueen since 2010 and started out as an intern there. It only took her 19 years to get from bottom to top. Not feeling that.
Another Dior rumor, Ricardo Tisci or Oliver Rousteing arriving at Dior. I cant believe it or see it. The styles of Dior that are set seem very far from Oliver and Ricardo’s style. Although, Dior announced in December they are taking their time to find a replacement.
Anthony Vaccarello to Saint Laurent. Many rumors like this circulated, from Slimane leaving, but they were shut down by the PR firm. Two weeks later, another emerged involving Vaccarello himself and his Creative Directing position at Versus’s. This rumor put his position in jeopardy, thus accumulating more rumors for his potential future Creative Directing positions.
