There are, obviously, a lot of things to do here at the University of Kentucky, but there are just a few things that make you considered to be a true student at the Big Blue Nation. Make the most of your time here and take advantage of all these amazing opportunities we have at UK.

1. Pull an all-nighter at Willy T.

Some this may happen too frequently, but you are not a University of Kentucky student until you spend all night going crazy while studying at least once.

2. Spend your evening aimlessly walking through downtown Lexington.

Grab your friends and dedicate an evening of exploring through the beautiful parts of downtown. From wall art to amazing buildings and great food choices, you surely won't be disappointed.

3. Start a CATS cheer in an absolutely random location.

Whether you're by yourself, or with your friends, start the cheer and hopefully fellow students will pick up on it and follow along.

4. Blow an entire week's paycheck at Keeneland.

Or, hopefully, double an entire week's paycheck, if you're lucky.

5. Try coffee at all of the local coffee shops.

Venture away from Willy T Starbucks and try out all the amazing cups of coffee around town. To name a few, Coffea, Common Grounds, A Cup of Commonwealth, Third Street Stuff and North Lime Coffee and Donuts.

6. Make a 2 a.m. Qdoba run on Euclid Ave.

Because Qdoba's breakfast burritos are too heavenly, and taste way better in the middle of the night.

7. Tailgate all day, and experience a win at night on Caturday.

And then, of course, celebrate with the whole school after the great win.

8. Climb the rock wall at the Johnson Center.

Even if you're not quite the climber, every student should take the opportunity to give it a shot!

9. Go sledding in the bowl in front of Willy T.

Grab your friends, grab your sleds, grab your coats and bring out your inner child for a day filled with sledding.

10. Burn something on State Street.

Preferably a couch. Because that's what we're known for, right?

11. Order Mad Mush cheese sticks at the end of a night out with friends.

Because they are the best cheese sticks in America and every student must experience them.

12. Rush the field at Commonwealth Stadium, or rush the court at Rupp.

There would be no greater way to celebrate a big win than running down to congratulate the team with 30,000 of UK's biggest fans.

13. Spend a study break at the Memorial Hall Amphitheater.

Grab some lunch, lay out, and relax on a beautiful day in the middle of your stressful day of classes.

14. Get a cookie during finals week from Mrs. Capilouto outside of Maxwell Place.

Because who doesn't love free cookies?

15. Take a picture in front of the wildcat statue on Avenue of Champions.

If your parents didn't force you to take one when you visited campus the first time, you have to get one before graduation.

16. Get to the top of the Patterson Office Tower.

And look out a window for the best view of campus.

17. Participate in the DanceBlue marathon.

Help a good cause and dance for 24 hours straight for the kids, always #FTK.

18. Take a day trip with your friends to Red River Gorge.

A perfect road trip destination only an hour away from campus. Spend a beautiful day hiking and enjoying the great outdoors.

20. Camp out for Big Blue Madness tickets.

Pitch a tent and spend a couple days with some die hard UK fans for tickets.

21. Attend the World's Largest Water Balloon Fight.

250,000 balloons and 5,000 plus people make for one great night.

22. Attend a midnight home hockey game.

Bring your friends and cheer on the Hockey Cats when they get to play these late night home games!

23. Last but not least, enjoy the time you have here at the University of Kentucky.

These four years go by awfully fast, so make sure you're soaking in every second of being a wildcat!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
