The Types Of People We All Follow On Instagram

I think we can all agree that we follow a person from each of the following Instagram-er stereotypes.

As I scroll through my Instagram timeline (feed, page, whatever -- I’ve lost track of what the proper names are for each social media account… all I know is that they take up a good 50% of my life each day and I’ll continue to act like that is not a problem) I’ve seen a variety of different types of pictures. From celebrities, to your mom, to that workout account you pretend to be inspired by, to your little sister and to your boyfriend’s new dog’s account, I think we can all agree that we follow a person from each of the following Instagram-er stereotypes.

1. The one with another inspirational quote. Girl, you’ve got an eye for pretty pictures with some words on it, but please save that for your “Inspirational” board on Pinterest. I already know how in love every 20 year-old-girl is with the cities they’ve never been to and the people they’ve never met....

2. The girl who paid $15 for an editing app and uses it to its full potential. It’s just another selfie of her and her boyfriend yet the quality screams “I’m the next big Alfred Eisenstaedt” and people are going to be wondering how someone captured such a beautiful scenery years from now. *snaps for Camera+*

3. The “I was challenged”-er. Okay so you’re telling me that these 5 photographs make you feel more beautiful than anything else? Have you ever tried Outback’s mac n’ cheese because that is the kind of stuff that makes you feel like a million bucks.

4. The “here’s my legs and some waves”… Hot dogs, bratwursts, legs- all of these can officially fall under one category thank you to the number of people who feel the need to let everyone know that they have set out on one of the only voyages to some water and waves AND have managed to lather up on some SPF .00001. Bravo, America.

5. The Food Porn addict (lattes included). Mmmm... yes, that no-dressing-extra-spinach salad looks so delicious under a Sierra filter. I’ll like it in support of you to eat something else with it. We’re all still growing girls here. Don’t forget to add your location.

6. The “Wheels Up” Insta-er. From LA to Tokyo she has documented every second of her trip via a filter and two white edges. Is there really a need for the rest of us to travel if we’ve already seen everything from the Eiffel Tower to the view from every airplane window? Unless there’s a woman churning butter out there, at least leave some of us the mystery.

Oh, and how about the In-N-Out burger pictures? Has everyone and their mother taken a trip to the West Coast this year?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
