Alright, so most of the time I try to eat pretty healthy. I love salads, smoothies, and all kinds of fruits and veggies. While dorm life has made my usual eating habits a little harder, I thought I would compile a big list of my favorite foods that are both delicious and really good for you!

Avocado

Avocados are arguably one of my favorite foods in existence. They are so delicious and pair well with all kinds of different dishes. One of my favorite things to make for breakfast is an egg baked in an avocado. It might sound odd, but check out this link and try it for yourself. You won't regret it. Another one of my favorite things to do with an avodcado is make a smoothie with it. So good. If you look up the nutritional info, don't let the high fat content scare you. It's a type of monosaturated fat (MUFA), so basically it's healthy fat! In moderation obviously.

Greek Yogurt

Plain Greek yogurt is great for so many reasons. First, you can use it in a ton of savory recipes as a healthier substitute. For example, a lot of times people will substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream! Second, it's fat free, high in protein, and (if you buy it plain) it's also really low in sugar content compared to other yogurt. If you want to eat it plain and miss the sweetness, just add a little bit of honey, some fresh fruit, and sliced almonds.

Butternut Squash

I just started cooking with butternut squash this summer, and I'm so happy I did. The only tricky thing is learning how to cut it up properly. There are tons of amazing recipes to try, but one of my favorites is really simple and quick. Not only does it taste great, but butternut squash is packed with potassium and has virtually no fat.

Asparagus

Asparagus is one of those things I could eat at any meal. Yeah, even breakfast. Judge me. Not only will your taste buds thank you after you eat asparagus, but so will the rest of your body. Asparagus is loaded with antioxidants, fiber, and a ton of vitamins. Here's one of my favorite recipes too, just because I'm nice.

Salmon

The health benefits of salmon alone should be enough to encourage you to eat it more often. Salmon contains omega-3 fatty acids which are amazing for heart health and it also reduces the risk of stroke. Additionally, it contains a plethora of vitamins and lots of protein. Not to mention it's so delicious. By replacing chicken or another type of meat for salmon even just once a week, your definitely doing your body a favor.

Kale

Kale might be kind of ~mainstream~ but it's for good reason. It's kind of the king superfood of all superfoods. It has everything good packed into it: omega-3 fatty acids, protein, fiber, the list goes on. This stuff is seriously good for you. I also highly recommend making these kale chips. You'll be hooked.

Dark Chocolate

Last but certainly not least, dark chocolate. I am a chocolate maniac. Seriously. I could eat it every single day and never get tired of it. Well, lucky for me, dark chocolate is actually healthy when eaten in moderation. It has antioxidants in it and has even been linked to heart health.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
