31 Things That Ice Cream Workers Are Sick Of Hearing
Vinny Garette

Food service is one thing, but working in an ice cream store is a totally unique and incomparable experience. Almost four years ago, I went into the job expecting it to be happy and upbeat, and while at times it was, certain customers made me constantly question what I had gotten myself in to. So, without further adieu, here are 31 things customers say that ice cream scoopers are tired of hearing:

1. "Can I sample everything?"

2. "Your arm must be so strong from scooping."

3. "What do you mean you're out of (insert flavor here)?"

4. "Well, can you check in the back?"

5. "I drove all this way for that flavor."

6. "I should get a discount since you don't have what I want."

7. "It's snowing! You must think we're crazy for wanting ice cream."

8. "Three dollars for one scoop?"

9. "Back in my day, a scoop of ice cream was five cents."

10. "What's the difference between a cake, sugar and waffle cone?"

11. "Okay, I'll have the regular one."

12. "How many calories is in this?"

13. "Do you have anything sugar-free/fat-free/dairy-free?"

14. "So this is, like, healthy ice cream, right?"

15. "You close in three minutes? Good thing we got here on time."

16. "Can we get seven milkshakes, each a different flavor?"

17. "Can you describe what this one tastes like?"

18. "Can I sample the vanilla?"

19. "Have you tried every flavor?"

20. "What's your favorite?"

21. "Which do you like more, this one or that one?" (proceeds to get the opposite of what you say)

22. "Can I get a cone turned upside-down in a cup?"

23. "Do rainbow sprinkles and chocolate sprinkles taste the same?"

24. "You're too skinny to be working here."

25. "Seriously, if I worked here I'd be obese."

26. "I didn't like the flavor I bought without tasting first. Can I get a new one for free?"

27. "My kid dropped his/her cone. Can I get a new one for free?"

28. "I need to speak to the manager."

29. "Sorry, my children made a mess." (makes no effort whatsoever to clean it up)

30. "What do you mean I can't use a coupon for a double scoop on two single scoops?"

31. "This must be the best job ever."

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
