A change in seasons

Fall Is Coming

Fall is knocking at our back door with a tray of pumpkin spice lattes. Get ready for its cold breeze to urge you to bundle up. It's arriving with a big pumpkin and 13 movies from your childhood. Fall is knocking with the trick-or-treaters at your front door. Leaves fall with every knock. First yellow, then orange and finally red. Fall brought a rake to clean up all of its mess. Everything will be pumpkin-flavored and taste of fall's presence. You let fall in because it is a dear friend of yours. It doesn't come in all at once. You greet your friend with an apple cider slushy and a good book. Fall is happy to be so welcomed. The freshly lit bonfire burns brightly as fall welcomes itself deeper into the household. The fall decor is hung up in every room to mimic fall's presence. A deep breath lets you know that fall has arrived and your scarves and combat boots can come out of hiding from summer's rage.

Fall brings a lot of emotion as we leave the heat of the summer for the cool breeze of pre-winter. It is funny to me that a time when everything is dying is a time of so much life. Fall is the season that everyone looks forward too simply because it isn’t too hot or too cold. Fall is widely accepted by many. This is a good time of year to make commitments to yourself as your old self can “die” and a new self can be remade. Embody something important this fall. While you’re sipping on your hot tea and wearing your cozy socks and sweaters, think about something that you can do this fall to feel more at peace with yourself and those around you.

Fall is coming and there is nothing that you summer-lovers can do about it. Enjoy fall while it is here because soon enough we will slide into winter. Take beautiful pictures, do all of the fun and glorious fall activities, be safe, be kind and enjoy life.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
