In honor of the 2016 election, I think everyone needs to start watching "The West Wing" and vote Bartlet for president.
"The West Wing" follows our new favorite White House staffers in their personal and professional lives. The show is full of drama that comes with managing the USA, but also humor that gets you through the darker moments.
Here are some of my favorite scenes...
1. President Bartlet knows how to shut it down!
"When the president stands, no one sits." Bow down to Bartlet!
2. President Bartlet was always a father first.
Bartlet refused to let white supremacists ruin Zoey and Charlie's relationship. It was always more important to make sure that is family was happy rather than giving into hate.
3. Seriously, can we get Bartlet the nomination for 2016?
4. He may be the sassiest president yet, but he also tugs on your heartstrings.
Although school shootings seem to have become the norm, this speech reminds us that despite there being hate in the world there are also heroes.
5. Ainsley Hayes
She wasn't afraid to call out the administration, even as the only Republican in the White House.
6. The First Lady Mrs. Bartlet is pretty badass too.
Abbey Bartlet was a very outspoken first lady and often had to put her husband in his place.
7. When Sam informs the military that "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" was a terrible idea.
8. It made you believe that the White House isn't just politics, but there's a heart.
Toby and Mrs. Landingham attend a funeral for a homeless veteran after Mrs. Landingham explains that the holidays are difficult since she lost her own boys.
9. It perfectly handled the aftermath of 9/11.
Some people still need to learn this lesson today sadly.
10. This scary foreshadow to the Arab American Holocaust.
This should be required viewing for anyone that does not think giving ID badges to Muslim Americans will cause another holocaust-like event.
11. Following Mrs. Landingham's Funeral, President Bartlet was lost without her.
Bartlet and Mrs. Landingham were together since high school and she was the first one that seemed to challenge him to think about the politics of every decision. She was greatly missed.
12. Despite having lost Mrs. Landingham and having announced that he has Multiple Sclerosis, Bartlet ends season two on the highest note.
"The West Wing" continually receives awards for having some of the best writing and the actors do incredible work at bringing the lines to life. If you have yet to watch "The West Wing" make sure to check it out! It's on Netflix!
