Today’s women are on the go. Typically, we don’t have time spend hours getting ready on a daily basis. If you’re like me and most of the women I know, it’s either hair or makeup, rarely both. I prefer to spend a little extra time on my makeup, and very little time throwing my hair up in my favorite style — the top-knot bun. It takes me less than three minutes, and always looks great. When your “getting ready process” is similar to the destructive path of a tornado, this look can be a real lifesaver. Here are 10 ways top-knot-buns can save your life on a daily basis (I know they sure save mine).

1. Time crunch? If you’re anything like me, time is of the essence. Us busy gals don’t always have extra minutes, even seconds, to full-out primp. Top-knot buns take less than five minutes, but can look like they took 30 to achieve the perfect poof.

2. Not very hairstyle savvy? Top-knot-buns are so simple, even those with no hairstyling knowledge can manage to create this look.

3. If you don’t like to shower every day, have no fear, the top-knot-bun is here. Washing your hair every day isn’t healthy anyways, so if you have day-old hair (or even three-day-old hair) no one will notice, because your strands are neatly tucked away on top of your fabulous head.

4. Top-knot-buns work on every face shape. This means no matter if your face is oval, heart-shaped, round, etc., you can be stylin’ and smilin’. Also, a top-knot bun accents those lovely cheek bones, making contoured looks even more chic.

5. When you’re part-way through the day, and your hair has given up on you, don’t fret, help is on the way. Just throw your hair on top of your head, and you won’t have to worry anymore about the tangled mess your active lifestyle has created.

6. Windy day? Top-knot bun — enough said.

7. Maybe, you decided to get out of your comfort zone, and try a new hair color. If your dream 'do didn’t quiet turn out as planned, you can always hideaway your mistakes with a top-knot bun until you’ve had a chance to correct them.

8. Low maintenance or high maintenance, this look can and will work for you.

9. You can dress it up or dress it down. Try a tight slicked back J-Lo top knot for fancier occasions, and a messy relaxed bun for a flirty fun look.

10. Top-knot buns are timeless, and will always keep you looking in style. No matter what the newest fashion trends are, you will forever be able to get away with this look. Just ask my grandma, she’s been rockin’ the top-knot bun since I’ve known her, and she's awesome.

Forget hot-cross-buns, because top-knot buns are all the rage. You can be put together, even if you’re falling apart. Every man, woman and child can agree that this hairstyle is a lifesaver. I strongly believe in the saying, “If you look good, you feel good." So why not look good all the time with this staple hairstyle? If, by chance, you aren’t privy on how to be bun-tastic, I’ve added a link for a simple tutorial I found very insightful for mastering a top-notch top-knot.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
