10 Teen Girl Movies From The 00's You Need To Revisit

The beginning of this millennium was huge for society. Y2K was a thing, Wikipedia was born, but most importantly, our favorite all-time teen girl movies graced our presence. You know exactly which ones I'm talking about. If you haven't watched these movies in a while, you need to give your dusty DVD shelf, Netflix, and your choice of "legal" movie streaming database a little love. In no particular order, let's take a little trip down memory lane, shall we?

1. She's The Man

"Speaking as a completely objective third party observer with absolutely no personal interest in the matter," this is arguably my favorite movie ever made. It was also the first movie I ever saw in theaters without parental supervision. This movie has it all - comedy, romance, drama, and the beloved Eunice Bates. This was pre-Amanda Bynes craziness, and Channing Tatum was at his best. It's also an empowering movie for women. Hey, it's super okay to try out for the boy's soccer team at your insane private school and show up your ex-boyfriend.

2. A Cinderella Story

Now THIS is a movie. It beats all other Cinderella remakes hands down. And apologies to Selena Gomez, but Another Cinderella Story is a joke compared to this one. Everyone's favorite diner girl shocks the world with a simile that would change time as we know it. Chad Michael Murray does The Lord's work. We are not sorry you waited for the rain Austin Ames, not sorry one bit.

3. The Lizzie McGuire Movie

This movie is truly what dreams are made of. Lizzie drops our jaws with her incredible dance moves. Miranda is M.I.A. for this grand finale, but maybe that's for the best. Ethan Craft and Kate act their usual ways which we all know and love. And congratulations to Gordo for finally breaking free from the friends' zone. I could watch this movie once a day for the rest of my life and still not be satisfied. However, I was slightly disappointed because when I went to Italy on a school trip, zero percent of this movie happened to me. I hope you can prove me wrong and kiss your Gordo under Italian fireworks on a Roman balcony.

4. Raise Your Voice

Yes, I have included the Hilary Duff trifecta in my Top 10. This is definitely the saddest movie on the list. You'll need a box of tissues at the beginning. There are so many elements to this movie that speak to the big dreamers in all of us. The Fletcher family gives me hope. I still get pretty fired up when the roommate with the electric violin wins the scholarship in the end, but I guess that's a pretty dope musical talent, so I'll let it slide.

5. Life-Size

It's been a minute since I've laid eyes on this masterpiece. The Lohan-Banks duo is something to admire. All Lindsay Lohan wants is her mom, but with the help of a little magic, the next best thing happens: Tyra Banks shows up! I'm sorry Casey; I've never met your mom, but Eve outshines her by leaps and bounds. You'll find yourself singing this movie's well-renowned song for days after watching it. And if you ever have a friend named Eve, you can make references beyond compare.

6. Mean Girls

I would be foolish to leave this one off the list. This is easily one of the most quotable movies of all time. Tina Fey actually wrote this screenplay with liquid gold. This is the movie that we're going to make our daughters watch in the future. It's the movie you'll be talking about with your best girlfriend in the nursing home when you're 90. There is a sequel. Three words: don't even bother. Thank you TV channels for playing this movie at least once every two weeks. Also, Netflix really came through for us for once because you can find it there!

7. Just My Luck

This is super underrated if you ask me. It's cute, funny, and most importantly has Chris Pine in it. It's encouraging to know that even the unluckiest of people can find love. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a whopping 13 percent, but fear not world. Lohan and Pine are still great, and it's still worth a watch.

8. Step Up

Channing Tatum plays a bad boy who is an amazing dancer. What's not to love? This film started a pretty successful series of Step Up movies; however, nothing beats the original. You need to watch this one soon. It's got all the dancing, drama, and romance you could ever want. Plus, now you can love it even more since Channing Tatum and Jenna Duwan Tatum are happily married.

9. Stick It

I'm still confused as to why Stick It didn't win an Oscar. Maybe it's because I did gymnastics at the same time this movie came out. Maybe it's because it's just that good. All I know is that this movie did me so right that I downloaded it and the soundtrack onto my first generation iPod Video. Jeff Bridges is in it, so it has to be good, right? And when Wei Wei break dances in her beam routine?! The intentional scratching?! I'm getting the chills just thinking about watching it tomorrow.

10. Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen

Eliza truly does rock. I remember seeing this movie in theaters with my brother and dad because my mom was out of town. One percent of me feels sorry for dragging them into that theater, but the other 99 percent doesn't care one bit. Lola and Ella made me want to crash a Sidarthur after party. Megan Fox is hot, as always. The red and black feather dress she wore to her party at the end of the movie - like, are you kidding? I searched for that dress everywhere. I would pay big money to watch a live performance of Eliza Rocks, but until that becomes a reality, I will settle with this instead.

My Honorable Mention List: High School Musical, The Notebook, 27 Dresses, Hannah Montana: The Movie, Juno, The Spongebob Squarepants Movie, Made of Honor.

Treat this last month of summer like it should be treated. When you're feeling down in the dumps about life and need a guaranteed cure, look no further. Rewind a couple years, and make your 13-year-old self one happy girl. You're welcome.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
