As the election season rolls around, controversial issues are on the forefront of everyone's minds. One issue that is dealt with is pro-life versus pro-choice. As a Christian, I strongly believe in pro-life because of my religion and values. However, I am also one to keep an open mind about things, and these things tend to become tricky when the debates role around.
Pro-choice has the obvious benefit of the point of "this is my body, I should have the choice of what I want to do with it!" Though there is truth in this statement, the pro-life advocates have an argument. Pro-life comes back and makes the statement of, yes it is your body, but there is another life form involved and it shouldn't be your choice to take that life.
The arguments go back and forth with really no end. It can be very frustrating when neither party sees eye to eye. This controversy pulls at people's heart strings, because people are very passionate about this issue. For those who are pro-life, they feel burdened as people go day to day killing babies through the act of abortion. This terminology may seem harsh, but this is exactly how pro-life advocates view abortion. They value the lives of the unborn as they value anyone else. Everyone is equal; it is something that we fought for many years ago. Yet inequality still occurs in regards to the unborn who don't have a voice.
On the opposite side of the spectrum is the pro-choice defenders. Their argument is that women have the choice of whether to have a baby or not. They also don't believe that if the pregnancy is terminated early enough that the life form hasn't even began to form yet. Another element to this is when women who are raped become pregnant; they did not ask to be apart of this situation and they didn't make any mistakes. This is one of the huge situational circumstances that is a very tough question to answer. Also, freedom is pro-choice, we should be controlled by what we choose to do with ourselves.
The choice is yours in what you choose to believe. This can be based on pure opinion, or your religion, or values. As the elections role around, people tend to look into these big issues to see who agrees with their stance on the issues. I think that people should really look into the controversies that they feel deeply about.
As a pro-life advocate, I feel deeply about this issue. I think this greatly impacts my vote, because of my negative views on pro-choice. I am very passionate about this issue and I honestly don't know if I could support anyone if they were pro-choice. I also know that people feel the exact opposite way that I do, and they are entitled to their own opinion. I think that it is important to respect other people's views and opinions in the best way possible. Conflict and argument are sure to arise, but they should be handled with maturity and respect. When voting, make sure that you look into issues that you feel passionate about. For me, I will be supporting people who are pro-life because that is something that is important for me. I believe that everyone deserves to live out their lives, no matter the situation or circumstance.
