Pre-Recruitment As Told By The Kardashians

Perhaps the most stressful week in the life of any sorority girl is pre-recruitment. It's not quite time for the PNMs to roll through the door, but it's definitely fast approaching. Work week is a whole new world, especially when it's your first year on the other side of recruitment. Naturally, I'm going to explain this foreign concept with a family that is very familiar and near and dear to my heart. This is the Kardashians previous to the Scott pre-Kourtney breakup.

You return to your chapter to see all of your sisters you haven't seen in months except for their Instas, Snap stories and now deactivated Facebooks.

Your recruitment chair addresses the whole chapter, and you're just like...

She explains walking and greeting your PNM at the door as best she can, as well as illustrating how calling lines work to prep you for actual recruitment. UH...

You see your schedule and it says you have to be at the house in full hair and full makeup by 7 a.m.

The recruitment head compliments your walk, and your strut game has been forever changed.

You mess up the line up on the stairs and feel everyone's eyes burning into your back.

You are somewhat appalled at the scheduling of your life for the next two weeks.

You enter outfit checks and realize you left an entire outfit in your hometown.

You're #blessed most of your friends are in your house because there is no time to socialize outside of your sorority for the next fourteen days.

You are ready for food at all times of the day.

You've hit your wall for the day and want to quit.

You have a new Naked 2 palette and are clueless. SOS send help to ya girl.

You're low key dropping your chapter's Tumblr URL so that PNMs or anyone else can see how amazing your organization really is.

You can see that contouring, perhaps, is not your strong suit, but your brows are on point so you're hoping for the best.

You're brainstorming out of the box questions to ask your PNMs next week.

A lil nasty in Panera gives you a dirty look for entering in your tacky tourist outfit at 8 p.m; like excuse me sir, haven't you heard of sorority work week theme days? (Ok, probably not) but you stay killing it.

Despite being cooped up inside all day, your Insta game stays strong.

Also your Wifi is a joke because there's 200 girls trying to get online at once throughout the day.

You get so hyped for your sorority and want to rep it forever.

You're nervous thinking about all of the little things you'll have to remember when recruiting girls next week.

Looking around your chapter, you think recruitment will be a breeze because of how awesome your sisters are.

Sunday finally rolls around, and you have your outfits all laid out for the week; you can't wait to have new girls in your sisterhood this time next week!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
