An Open Letter to Everyone Who Plays Club Volleyball

To Anyone Who Plays Club Volleyball,

Club volleyball was honestly the best thing that has ever happened in my life. Now that I realize I will never be playing again, here's some advice I have for you.

Do not take this opportunity for granted. Feel blessed that you have the opportunity to be playing volleyball at a competitive level. Enjoy being able to travel to Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando. I remember complaining about how I had to give up weekends on end of my social life to travel to Orlando to play volleyball, but in the end, it's completely worth it. Now that I am not longer playing, I have realized that I would do anything to be in that situation again.

Appreciate your coaches. These are the people that are going to leave a mark on your growth. They have years of wisdom about the sport and are willing to share that wisdom with you. Graciously accept their teaching abilities. You may not like their coaching style, but in the end, you will have learned more about the sport and grown as a person.

Enjoy spending time with your team. Yes, you are probably with them for at least two to three hours, two to three times a week, and also every or every other weekend, but these girls are your family. Learn to like them and build relationships with them. I have made some really great friends from my volleyball teams and plan to continue being friends with them.

Lastly, make the most of it. Right now, you might be complaining about how you would rather be at the beach or how you have so much homework and no time to complete it. Trust me, I used to do the same thing, but now that I cannot play anymore, I regret ever thinking that. Each day you get to play is a blessing and you should take advantage of it every second that you can.

All of my luck to all the club teams out there this weekend and the weekends to come!

Sincerely,

Someone who really misses club volleyball

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
