20 Signs You're A Tri Sigma

Over 100 years ago, eight special women founded Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. Today, according to the official Tri Sigma website, there are currently over 90 thousand members. Every single one of those members is diverse and unique. However, there are obvious signs that Sigma Sigma Sigma women also have much in common. Here's a list of signs that you are a Sigma Sigma Sigma

1. You've perfected writing a sigma.

It's easy to admit that writing a sigma was difficult at first, but never fear! Your sigma writing skills are top notch because you always have to write three of them every single time you write your sorority's letters.

2. You know what year Columbus sailed the ocean.

In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean. In 1898 we were set in motion. ♫

3. You've been called the sorority "with the three E's."

Sure, Sigmas may look like the letter E...just like the number "5" looks like a capital S, but no one gets those confused.

4. You can rock the nautical theme.

The sailboat is Tri Sigma's official symbol, but why not have the whole package with anchors and beachy prints and other ocean-esque themes?

5. Harmony is your favorite Care Bear.

We have Tri Sigma alumnae Linda Denham to thank for creating an important part of our childhood: Care Bears. Harmony was created just for Tri Sigma, which makes her the most special of all.

6. You throw the Sigmas or sailboat whenever you travel.

Whether the ocean is touching your toes or you're thousands of feet above sea level on a mountain, you've gotta represent.

7. You're never in the dark.

In the light of Sigma love we stand. ♫

8. You know what S.L.A.M. means.

Writing a sweet note to your sorority sister? End it with a "S.L.A.M." Sending a text to your little? End it with a "S.L.A.M." Asking your roommate to please please please pick up her clothes from last weekend? End it with a "S.L.A.M."

9. You're faithful for life.

That's the motto, baby.

10. You're f-i-n-e fine.

Right down the l-i-n-e line. You are the b-e-s-t best of all the r-e-s-t rest and you'll cheer cheer cheer with all your z-e-s-t zest.

11. "Faith, hope and love are the good things He gave us," but God didn't stop there.

God also gave us wisdom and power which completes Tri Sigma's five values.

12. You own a ridiculous amount of purple.

Purple for days.

13. Not only do you own a ton of purple, you own many different shades of purple.

Royal purple? Obviously...and violet and plum and orchid and periwinkle and lavender and eggplant and heather and iris...yup. The gang's all here.

14. When someone says "Tri Sig" you automatically add "ma."

We are not the "Sig Sig Sig sorority."

15. But you just call the sorority "Sigma."

And "Sigma" means home.

16. You bet Robbie Page was one cool kid.

Who knew a five year old could inspire so many? Fly high, Robbie.

17. You aren't afraid to venture.

Tri Sigma was the first sorority to venture out to Alaska and start a chapter and even the first sorority to cross international boarders and start another chapter. Naturally, we're ready to expand and adventure.

18. You've wanted to visit the Mabel Lee Walton house.

Word has it the house is beautiful at Christmas time.

19. You love Carrie Underwood.

Go sis, that's our sis!

20. You are always moving ever forward.

No heartbreak, tragedy, or hardship will tip a Sigma Sigma Sigma's boat. With our sister's by our side and our hearts filled with love, a Tri Sigma woman is unstoppable.
