If you are a Grey's Anatomy fan like I am, you definitely have had your favorite couples from the show's past 12 years. Here are the top 10 couples that we have seen, from one "Grey's Anatomy" fan to another. (Warning, beyond this point there may be spoilers for any of "Grey's Anatomy's" 12 seasons. You have been warned.)
10. Alex Karev & Jo Wilson
"We're the only family we need, right? We'll be together forever, right? You and me. And if we have kids, we'll be great. I'll be a great dad and you'll be great and it'll just be us. We won't need anybody else, okay?" - Alex Karev
One of the newer couples on the list, Alex and Jo definitely relate well to each other and had great chemistry in the beginning of their relationship. These two could be together for the long haul, but their relationship has gotten a little dry in later seasons, securing them the number 10 spot.
9. Teddy Altman & Henry Burton
"Letting you go
was the worst thing I’ve ever done. It’s the most painful thing I’ve ever done,
and I’m a guy who’s had 82 surgeries. My threshold for pain is pretty high." -Henry
Burton
Nobody imagined that a marriage merely to give a sick man
health insurance would end up in a serious relationship. But, these two fell in
love, and the rest is history. They'll always have a special place in our
hearts.
8. Ben Warren & Miranda Bailey
"We may only be together five minutes every two months, but hey, when we do, we will savor every second. Because we both know how valuable those five minutes are." -Ben
WarrenThis relationship is definitely one of the most stable on the
show, and they complement each other very well. We'd be devastated if anything
happened to them.
7. Callie Torres & Arizona Robbins
"You don't get to tell me that we're not together. We are together. Because I love you and you love me, and none of the rest of it matters. We are together." - Arizona Robbins
Who know what the future holds for these two? But, no one
can deny that for a while, they were definitely relationship goals. Things may
have gotten rocky, but they really tried to make it work, and there is no doubt
that they still have feelings for each other in some regard.
6. Mark Sloan & Addison Montgomery
"I'm a flawed and I'm
a... a wreck, but you... it wasn't a game." -Mark Sloan
This relationship never really took off on the show, but we
wish it had. After all, the reason Mark Sloan even came to Seattle was because
of Addison. They definitely both loved each other at one time or another.
Unfortunately, they just weren't ready at the same time.
5. Izzie Stevens & Denny Duquette
"No, I get it! Ok? I
get it! You'll be ok, you'll be fine, but what about me? So don't do it for
yourself, do it for me! Please! Please Denny! Please do this for me! Because if
you die, oh God." - Izzie Stevens
First of all, sorry to bring back all of these feelings, but it would have been a crime not to pay tribute to this couple. Maybe it was technically a bit unethical, but Izzie and Denny were a prime example of plain and simple love. There was no sex or extravagance. They just met and fell deeply in love with each other. We really wish it would have worked out.
4. Cristina Yang & Owen Hunt
"I'm not lying about the
fact that I love you and I want my life to be with you." - Owen
Hunt
Alright, so there were times when this pairing was far from great. Even fans of this relationship have to admit that. However, what was undeniable was the love these two had for each other. It was painful, yes, because they wanted different things in life, but in a different world, these two would be together.
3. Jackson Avery & April Kepner
"I love you, April. I always have. I love everything about you. Even the things I don't like, I love. And I want you with me. I love you, and I think...that you love me too." - Jackson Avery
How many times have we seen the best friends turn lovers? But do we care? Not really. Jackson and April had a long, drawn out, love story including an entire season of will they, won't they. But when these two finally got together, it was extremely romantic and joyful to watch. (Although, Jackson's timing could have been a tiny bit better).
2. Mark Sloan & Lexie Grey
"I love you. I do. I just, I love you. And I have been trying not to say it. I have been trying so hard to just mash it down and ignore it and not say it… I am so in love with you. You’re in me. You’re like — it’s like you’re a disease. It’s like I am infected by Mark Sloan and I just can’t think about anything or anybody and I can’t sleep. I can’t breathe. I can’t eat. And I love you. I love you all the time. Every minute of every day. I love you." - Lexie Grey
Oh, Mark and Lexie. They had quite a rocky path, and every time they would break up, it was understandable. Of course, we always hoped these two crazy kids would work it out because they could have been great together. And they were just so cute. Don't we all like to think they were meant to be?
1. Meredith Grey & Derek Shepherd
"I
believe that we can be extraordinary together rather than ordinary apart."
- Meredith Grey
"You were like coming up for fresh air. It's like I was drowning and you saved me."
-Derek Shepherd
Really, could it be anyone else? This relationship will
probably go down in history as one of television's best. Calling it now. Come
on---Post it? Zola, Bailey, tumors on the wall, and ferryboat scrub caps? Their
love was undeniable and unstoppable. Were the unconventional at times? Of
course! But they continually fought to be together because they just couldn't
fall out of love. They were meant to be together.
Well there it is. And, yes, it's extremely upsetting with how many of these couples are actually still together. Of course, this is just one person's opinion. Feel
