YouTube has always had a place in my heart since a very young age. When homework and studying got to be overwhelming, I would take a break by going on YouTube and watching some videos. From popular YouTubers to small YouTubers to random cat videos, there is something on YouTube for everyone. Here are the top five reasons why so many people love to spend countless hours watching YouTube.

#1 Watching YouTubers Grow

The gif above is of a YouTuber named Drew Monson (channel name mytoecold), whom I discovered one day while browsing the related video section on Youtube. He was a small YouTuber with only a couple thousand subscribers, but his comedic persona and down-to-earth attitude instantly made me a fan. Now he has over 726,000 subscribers and still produces the same funny videos I fell in love with in the beginning. To see a small YouTuber grow and become extremely popular is a really neat experience, and one of the reasons YouTube is one of my favorite websites.

#2 Having New Videos to Look Forward to Each Week

One of the key features on YouTube is the little red subscribe button underneath every video. Once you click the button, every time that channel uploads a new video you will get a notification in the subscription tab of your account. Most YouTubers have a set schedule where they upload, for example, every Wednesday, or every Monday and Saturday. After a long day of school or work, it is really exciting to see that one of your favorite YouTubers has uploaded a new video.

#3 Cat Videos

Having a hard time putting a smile on your face? Look no further than an adorable cat video on YouTube! There are so many that you are bound to find one that makes your heart melt instantly or one that makes you cry out in laughter. There is just something so captivating about their little paws and silly tails that make cat videos the perfect time waster.

#4 Beauty Videos

It's a rainy day outside, but you are feeling adventurous and bold. Why not try experimenting with a new makeup look? YouTube has hundreds of beauty channels that have makeup tutorials and fashion advice- go ahead and try something you never would have tried before! Learning something new is always fun, and who knows? You might stumble upon a look you can no longer live without.

#5 Sketches

Sketch videos are some of the most impressive on the site. The amount of time and effort put into these videos are evident, and the amount of enjoyment viewers can get out of them is immense. Ranging from comedic to tragic, sketch videos have a story to tell. Curl up in bed with some popcorn and a drink, because these videos are addicting and before you know it the whole afternoon will be spent binge watching these incredible videos.
