21 Times Michelle And Barack Were The Couple We Want To Be

Since Election Day was just last week, let us celebrate by being political! What better way to show our patriotic spirit than by gushing over America’s star couple, the Obamas?

[I really need to stop with these pseudo-misleading political facade articles. For reference, check out my article “about” the Democratic Debate last month: 16 Reasons Why Anderson Cooper is Flawless]

You can deny, deny, deny all you want, but you’re probably lying to yourself if you think your attention doesn’t ever drift from whatever State of the Union address or statement POTUS is making to the adorable romance between him and Michelle, for however brief of a moment.

Don’t worry, it’s practically American to feel that pang of jealousy and frustrating rush of warmth whenever the power couple makes an appearance. Even if it’s just a stance of support or a gentle pat on the back, the Obamas are the true #relationshipgoals.

Here are 21 instances when the Obamas were the couple we all strive to be:

1. They’ve got some sort of understanding going on. Like, "Hey babe, let’s do that dance we choreographed that one time for situations like this." It’s all in the eyes.

2. "Hold up now, Michelle, you can’t be starting without me. Is this the same dance as last time or one of the other ones we prepared?"

3. "Ah, never mind. I feel you."

4. They make time for adorable date nights, like watching “Up” in 3D.

5. They’re together even when they’re apart.

6. Maybe a slightly awkward shot, but what couple doesn’t have at least a few of those? Besides, Barack’s overly-excited smile makes it all better. He’s just so happy to be with his leading lady.

7. He’s just the happiest fella there is, whenever Michelle is around.

8. Despite being the leaders of the free world and all, they still know how to channel their inner-teenagers in ostentatious displays of PDA.

9. They’re on the same wavelength, even when they’re both being goons.

10. Just look at them sharing their private little moment. He gave her his jacket, and the Secret Service agents can’t even bring themselves to watch as they avert their eyes.

11. They know how to get down and dirty. Or at least, from the looks of this picture, Michelle knows how to get down and dirty and Barack knows how to be supportive.

12. They make history where it matters: this photo became the most tweeted photo of all time in 2012 after the Obama campaign sent it out on election night.

13. They know how to ground each other.

14. Can a relationship even be considered serious if puppies aren’t involved?

15. They know what styles each other look best in. Barack’s probably saying to Michelle right now how great her new hairstyle is and how popular her bangs will be. "Jackie O’s iconic shades don’t stand a chance against that fringe, honey."

16. They have their own styles…

...but match and are totally on point when needed.

17. They keep the coolest company.

18. They have the mutual understanding that it’s really Michelle who runs the world. I mean, is she not absolutely flawless?

19. They know when to laugh at each others’ jokes.

20. Even holiday personalities gawk at their cuteness.

21. They have each others’ backs.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
