One Week With A French Bulldog

A few quirks I've learned about French Bulldogs

One Week With A French Bulldog

Well, I just moved into a new apartment with a new roommate who happens to have a French Bulldog. Since day one I have learned a few things about them, and here are just some of them.

1. They ALWAYS want to play.

Unless they're sleeping French Bulldogs always want your attention, and rightfully so. They're adorable walking balls of pizza dough that deserve to be loved at all times.

2. They're not the most athletic.

While they are adorable, French Bulldogs are not exactly built to be ferocious guard dogs. However, that doesn't necessarily stop them from running around like insane mental patients. I can't speak for every French Bulldog, but I know ours will randomly get up and decide to have a literal marathon around the apartment.

3. They're fascinated by everything

This may just be a part of the puppy stage, but I don't recall my cocker spaniel being mesmerized by curtain strings or odd pieces of plastic. I don't mean in the playful way; I mean in the way that the dog will stare confused at the object for 10 minutes until it decides to walk away in confusion.

4. They snore...while they're awake.

I'm no vet so I can't 100% explain why this happens, but French Bulldogs are notorious snorters and snorers. They can be performing a simple task like walking and still produce a slight snort sound. I believe this is why they've been given the nickname "Batpig." Also because of their trademark bat ears.

5. They love to cuddle.

While this can be said for a lot of dogs, it's apparent to me that French Bulldogs are of the cuddling variety. They will most likely find the smallest and comfiest crevice of your body and try their best to nuzzle their way in until you are subdued.

6. They bark at literally nothing.

I have literally experienced the dog stare at me and start barking for seemingly no reason at all. This part kind of goes in hand with being fascinated by everything but it's still pretty odd. I wish I knew why this occurred, but I guess it's just a mystery contained within their ever-confusing minds.

7. They're always really happy.

I'm not sure why, but i don't think I have ever seen our Frenchie be anything other than happy. As long as she is awake she is running around or playing with something. She always seems to be in a constant state of happy, and it confuses me.

8. They LOVE their toys.

Although they love to play, French bulldogs seem to have no problem having fun with their toys by themselves. I've seen firsthand that they adore their squeaky balls and little knotted ropes and they'll fight you to the death for them.

There you have it, a few little quirks about French Bulldogs that I have learned in the short time I've lived with one. I'm sure there is plenty more I have yet to experience, but I guess I'll just have to wait until then.

I've been at this college thing for almost three and a half years, and while I thought that high school was truly the lowest point of my existence, I'm beginning to realize that it was a walk in the park. Like, I miss the days when the biggest white lie I told my parents was my made up excuse about being late for fourth period. These days, the white lies are a tad more complex, and as ashamed as I am to admit it, I've definitely told a few of these.

The infamous RBF is something I have and am known for. It’s kind of exhausting to be asked if you're okay all the time or being told to smile more. Girls with RBF get judged to be mean and rude much quicker than the girl who is always smiling. It’s true and just plain natural for someone who is generally smiling all the time to come off as more trustworthy and I've gotten used to it. I used to think that having a Resting Bitch Face was only a bad thing until I realized that just like anything else, it also has its perks. Having a permafrown with a piercing look comes with great power.

Parks and Rec
IndieWire

We all know that Parks and Recreation is one of the greatest shows ever to air on TV. As we watched every episode, we all found a piece of us in each character (even Jerry). From the moment we met the pit, to the time we saw it flourish into a beautiful park, we all had developed a little bit of Pawnee, Indiana in our hearts.
