Five Ways Women Are Changing History

Each one of us has been nurtured by a female, at least for the first nine months. Therefore, we should celebrate the women, past, present, and future, who have made and are making a difference challenge the persistence of gender inequality. Here's to the women who will be remembered as progressive:

1. The Free the Nipple Campaign

Feminism should not need to go through waves, but this campaign has signaled that we are in a new wave. The "Free the Nipple" Campaign advocates for women's rights and equality by encouraging the idea both females and males have the same right to be able to show their nipples publicly. A female's body should not be censored.

2. $10 Bill Woman

To the woman who will be the first woman on U.S. Currency, hats off to you.

3. Women Representatives

There are now 104 women representatives in the U.S. Congress, which has increased from 81 in 2005. It's not fifty percent yet, but it's getting closer to an equal representation, so women can have their voices heard, as well.

4. Hilary Clinton

Hilary Clinton is running for the democratic party nomination. Women are making great strides in politics and Hilary has proven to be a great voice for not only women, but as a representation for the Democratic Party, as well. Second time's a charm, right?

5. USA Women's Soccer Team

Congratulations to the U.S. Women's Soccer team for winning the FIFA World Cup. This huge win is another great example how team sports is not just for men. Women can work together towards a common goal to triumph too.

And let's not forget to celebrate Women's Equality Day this year on August 26th, but on every day too!

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Before that day, I never really thought about being a friend to myself, and at the time, I didn't really know what it meant. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.

Here are five things everyone should learn in order to be a better friend to themselves. These steps are hard, but they're so worth it.

We all have a love hate relationship with winter, lets be real here. The snow makes people forget how to drive, its cold, the roads are bad, and chances are, you will be spending a lot more money than you do during the other months of the year. If you’re from the Midwest, it seems to be that winter lasts for what feels like forever. But despite the struggles that winter brings, there are so many things to love about it.

The Post Thanksgiving Panic And Anxiety

It happens to all of us, the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas the catch up with you.

Thanksgiving Break is most likely everyone’s favorite break during the fall semester. You get to go home and reminisce with all your high school friends. That diet you’ve been on for the past month goes out the window, and you get to eat until you put yourself into a food coma. There’s no rush on homework and you can just lie in bed and Netflix to your heart’s content. To me that sounds like an ideally wonderful break, and totally stress-free.
