NARP is a term that is used on campuses across the country. You're not an athlete, you're not in Greek life, you're just a normal student—a non-athletic regular person, or NARP. While it is somewhat degrading to walk into a party when athletes scream, "The NARPs are here!" we must stick together and remember that being a NARP is totally okay.
As a NARP...
You're literally never too busy like your athlete friends are.
You only have to travel across the state when you go home for holidays instead of every weekend during season.
You don't have to watch everything you eat.
You want that extra Alfredo sauce with your pasta? Go for it.
Wanna stay out until 3 a.m. and sleep until 3 p.m.? No problem!
You get to enjoy the excitement of watching all your friends' games while they bust their butts on the field.
"Oh it's the middle of the season and you can't go out to the bars? Too bad for you..."
More for us!
Managing academics is hard enough on its own...throwing in practice twice a day, five times a week is just a killer.
But as an athlete...
You get instant friends as soon as you get to school.
You're always in shape.
You get to enjoy all the free meals.
You learn great work ethic.
Free tuition for doing a sport you love? Yes, please!
You actually have reasons to be exhausted all the time.
Tons of free clothes from your university for your sport is always a plus.
But let's be real, at the end of the day, we're all just college kids struggling together.
