When I first heard about the tragedy in Paris, I didn’t know what to think. At first I didn’t really want to believe it because when I first heard about it I was strolling down my timeline on Facebook and saw an article on it. I didn’t pay it any mind because that wasn’t the first article I saw that was just made up. Then I turned on the TV and saw it all over the news. As the news anchors were talking, all I could pay attention to was the headline that said, “Bombings in Paris, hundreds of lives Lost”. When I read that I was so shocked that I didn’t know what to say. I remember just sitting down and watching the TV looking for an answer on how or better yet why something like this would happen in Paris. Then the anchor said the terrorist group known as ISIS was behind the attack and did it just so they could send a message. When I heard this I swear I never been so angry in my life. I mean come on, seriously? You killed hundreds of innocent people just so you could send a message? If that isn’t some of the biggest piece of crap I ever heard I don’t know what is.

Then to make matters worst is that I see people on TV trying to blame Muslims for what happened to those people. Look I know we are all angry and upset that about what happened to all those innocent people in Paris, but trust and believe me when I say Muslims are not the blame for what happened. You can’t simply just blame a whole religious community of people for what a small group of Muslims did. To me that’s like a black person going around shooting and killing people and the media labeling every black man in the world a “thug”. Stuff like that hurts people! I have a few family members who are Muslim. For instance one of my older cousins on my dad side is Muslim but I grew up Christian my entire life. Does that mean I have to treat him different? No! Because at the end of the day he’s still my family and I love him to death.

After this horrible event, I truly feel bad for not only Muslims who have to put up with the judgmental bullshit from the media, but also the family members of the victims who lost their lives last week. I…I just can’t imagine someone telling me that someone in my family was just killed in a bombing and I would never see them again. Also for all those people that have been saying stuff like, “Oh people say pray for Paris, but people didn’t say anything about what the people who died in Kenya, or the black lives being lost here in American,” I just want to tell them while some people might not notice, I do. So I’m going to end this rant by saying pray for Paris, pray for Kenya, and just pray for…peace.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
