Thoughts You Had While Watching "Gone Girl"

It is no surprise that the top movie this week at the box office was "Gone Girl." The movie is based on the best selling book of the same name by Gillian Flynn, and I was hooked right away. I actually listened to it as a book on tape while driving to the beach, and I would just sit in my car, even once I reached my destination, just listening because it was that good. Naturally, I went to see it the night it opened with one of my friends who loved the book as much as I did, and we shared a lot of the same reactions and opinions to the movie adaptation. Some of the main thoughts we had:

1. Rosamund Pike is beautiful, where have I seen her before?

2. "The Bar" looks so depressing

3. Why is the cat such an important part of the movie?

4. Do I even know what my own blood type is?

5. Why is her mom wearing equestrian pants?

6. Ugh Ben Affleck is so hot, but he looks like a serial killer

7. I mean look at that face

8. What kind of person takes a selfie while looking for a missing person?

9. Margot is the perfect sister

10. He is solving the treasure hunt so much faster now

11. I'm starting to forget what happens in the book, did he really do it?

12. Are you kidding me? His mistress looks younger than I am

13. Poor Nick just can't catch a break

14. IT WAS HER. SHE FAKED HER OWN KIDNAPPING

15. Who goes to such great lengths to fake a pregnancy test?

16. Wow, someone's been watching Law and Order

17. What an awful new haircut/diet/wardrobe/car/everything

18. Thank god her friends robbed her, serves her right

19. Wait, who is she calling?

20. Oh hey Neil Patrick Harris

21. Way to figure things out Nick, time to show her who's boss

22. Who knew Tyler Perry could play such a convincing big shot lawyer?

23. Nope, nevermind. Andi ruined everything. Nick's screwed

24. Desi's lake house is insane, when can I move in?

25. Wait, what is she doing with that wine bottle? Oh my gosh, ew!

26. No! Don't arrest Margot! She's just being a good sister!

27. Maybe she is really just going to start over with Desi

(They were so cute in high school)

28. Nope, scratch that. So much blood, ew ok that's enough, we get it

29. What a dramatic return home, she's literally lost it

30. Can they not wash the blood off her body at the hospital before the FBI comes in?

31. She is so crazy, can she please wash that blood off finally

32. This time she's really pregnant. That poor child.

33. He needs to get out of this relationship, ASAP

34. But, maybe he is doing the right thing for the sake of the baby?

35. Nick, you need to get out. How can it just end like that? Can she write a sequel?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
