Earlier this year, One Direction's Zayn Malik announced that he was leaving the band. Since then, he has signed a record deal with RCA records as a solo act.
Now the boys of One Direction have denied a rumor that the band would be breaking up but confirmed that they will be taking a hiatus or break from touring.
On Twitter Niall Horan said:
Both Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne followed with affirmations regarding the rumors:
However, Harry Styles has yet to respond to the rumor or confirmation of the hiatus.
Horan stated that they were taking a "well earned break," referring to the fact that they have basically been touring since their debut on "The X Factor UK."
They worked hard to record and produce four albums as a five-piece boy band, and are continuing to work on a fifth as a four-piece. Online sources reported that the group would produce the fifth album fully, however not tour, with their break taking place over the holiday season (Source).
But what does this mean for One Direction and the boys?
Per Twitter, fans are fully supporting their decision showing that losing fans over this hiatus will not be a problem; something the band will not have to worry about during their much needed downtime. If anything, fans will be patiently waiting to hear what the boys have to offer post-hiatus in 2016.
For now, they have time to rest and relax. Although no information has been released about their plans during their break, it's safe to assume that most of them will return to the UK for some much needed family time. Maybe Harry will get himself another lady. Maybe Liam and Louis will get some more tattoos. Maybe the group will get the mental and emotional recharge they really need.
Until next year One Direction, we'll hear you in 2016.
