Why Alex Karev Is The Best Guy On "Grey's Anatomy"

The guys of "Grey’s Anatomy" have all been life changing for girls around the world. Derek Shepherd showed us that a guy could have it all. Preston Burke showed us that love could come before work. Mark Sloan showed us that being cocky is actually kinda hot. George O’Malley showed us being a silent hero is okay. However, one Grey’s guy goes extremely underrated and is actually the best of them all. Not only is Alex Karev really nice to look at, but there are so many other characteristics that make him the perfect guy.

1. He is confident in himself

Well, cocky and arrogant might be better words to use. But either way, he knows what he’s good at, referring to both medicine and girls, and he wants everyone to know it. While he can get a little overly cocky sometimes, what’s not to like about a guy who knows he’s awesome?

2. Even though he is really smug, he is loving

Despite his excessive cockiness, he is able to show his real self when he starts falling for a girl or he is with his friends. After Christina leaves, he becomes Meredith’s person. When Ava (pregnant lady from the ferry accident also known as Rebecca) needs someone, he is always there for her. And even though his current girlfriend Jo is a little messed up sometimes, he loves her unconditionally because they come from similar backgrounds and understand each other.

3. He helps when he can

When Denny died, he carried Izzie out of the hospital. When Arizona needed someone to take over her surgeries and someone to talk to, he was there. When Derek died, he never stopped calling Meredith to make sure she was okay and helped her with the kids when she finally came back.

4. Sense of humor

While it may be a bit unconventional to most people (and a little mean at times), it is hard to deny that he is the funniest of all the guys on the show.

5. He’s always blunt about everything

Don’t count on Alex to just keep his mouth shut about something. While he might try, he usually fails and ends up just blurting everything out that is on his mind, whether it hurts someone or not.

6. He works with kids

What’s not to like about a guy who works well with kids? While he may be a surgeon, he always knows how to connect with the kids on another level instead of just being their doctor. When Arizona couldn’t go treat kids in Africa, he brought them to Grey-Sloan Memorial hospital to be operated on by all the doctors.

So next time you sit down to watch some "Grey’s," try taking your focus off McDreamy and McSteamy and try to see how perfect Karev really is.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
