For some, it is their senior year of high school and everyone is getting ready for the start of college life. How does one choose where to go? That’s simple. Choose Bowling Green State University. I don’t have one reason or two reasons, but I had to narrow it down to just 15 of 10,000 different reasons why you should attend this wonderful University.

After interviewing a couple of BGSU graduates, it was clear they loved their experience here. “It’s a small town with the atmosphere of a bigger college," said Kris Vordermark, an education graduate of BGSU. When I asked another BGSU Alumni, Bethany Davis, she could not find anything wrong and simply replied, “I loved everything.” Davis also met her husband while attending Bowling Green State University. (This makes them 'Falcon Flames'.) Bethany’s husband, James, really enjoyed the food and remembers when there was a Wendy’s located in the Student Union. James, we now have a Steak Escape, Panda, Marcos and many other awesome places to choose from! “The best part was all the bars", says another graduate, Jon Clamme. Sara Felty, a very recent grad loved her time at BGSU. “The amazing community of BGSU made me feel at home almost instantly…I felt like an individual within a sea of students rather than just feeling like a number.”

Here are the 15 reasons I narrowed down:

1. It’s not University of Toledo. GO FALCONS!

2. The alumni are all so welcoming. It's obvious that BGSU attracts some of the best.

3. The squirrels are more friendly than most people in the world.

4. Frieda and Freddie Falcon and the SIC SIC team. We have the best mascots around to root on the best sports teams around!

5. The Metamorphosis Rock. Does your school have a rock shaped this? Didn’t think so.

6. We have a cemetery located in the midst of campus. Being different is a good thing…

7. We have a Gerontology Program. Wait? What is Gerontology? It’s the study of aging! Not many colleges have this program. We are lucky.

8. Low crime rate. This is a must for any young college student and anyone in general. Nobody wants to worry about crime while attending college.

9. Small Town life. You can literally walk ANYWHERE. This makes for less drinking and driving and more fun nights. Living close to friends is a definite plus.

10. Campus Pollyeyes. Enough said.

11. Country Night at the attic. They have $2 tallboy beers! They also have great music. It is even fun if you hate country music because everyone there that goes is just having a blast dancing.

12. Awesome Rec. Center. Have no fear, you can beat the odds and NEVER gain the freshman 15 with all the amazing machines at the rec center. Did I mention there's a sauna?

13. Greek life. They do wonderful things within the community and it is also great for making friends for a lifetime and networking.

14. The Learning Commons. Having trouble with classes? The Learning Commons is a FREE tutoring center that will help you out in no time.

15. Richard Webber from Grey’s Anatomy graduated from here. How awesome is that?!

After reading that, I have no doubts that you will LOVE your time at Bowling Green State University and I cannot wait to see you here! Sara Felty, BGSU alum, ended her interview by saying, “My growth as a leader, friend, and person was supported by faculty, and other students, and I graduated feeling confident that I was prepared for my next stage in life.”

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
