8 Places That Make Waco A Wonderland

"Waco? Why do you love Waco? There's nothing to do there."

If I had a nickel for every time I've heard that, I'd be one rich girl! It's true, Waco is no Dallas or Austin, but that's what I love about Waco. It's not anything like those big cities. Waco is charming. Waco is quaint. Waco is Waco. Here are just a few Waco gems:

Common Grounds

CG is Waco's sweetheart. This is the first place I take any out-of-towners that make a pitstop in Waco. Cowboy Coffee, the 254, frozen MilkyWay; I could go on and on. Common Grounds is just the apple of my eye (and one of the best places to study).

The Waco Hippodrome Theatre

Built in 1913, the Hippodrome is a recently renovated theatre that has captured the hearts of everyone in Waco. There's just something about the Hippodrome that takes you to a different era when you're there. Whether you're watching your favorite classic film or attending a Sunday morning Harris Creek service in the main theatre, the Hippodrome is surely an experience.

BSR Cable Park

Although on the outskirts of Waco, BSR is worth the drive. People have driven from all over to ride the Royal Flush, an extreme water slide at BSR. The motto is "This slide will make you want to quit your job and move to Texas!" I don't doubt that!

McLane Stadium

I'm too much of a Baylor girl to leave out my favorite thing that Baylor has to offer. McLane is the most phenomenal sight I have ever seen. Yes, I am biased, but come on, have you ever seen a college football stadium where you can drive your boat up to the stadium and "sailgate?" And have WiFi during the game? Yeah, didn't think so. McLane, y'all, it's something else.

Lula Jane's

The cutest thing I ever did see. Lula Jane's is a little picturesque coffee and baked goods shop and it's worth trying. You'll be so glad you did!

Austin Avenue

Next time you're in Downtown Waco, drive all the way down Austin Avenue and you'll come across the cutest little bed and breakfasts, antique shops, and this gorilla. I don't know whose gorilla he (or she?) is, but it's definitely a pretty cool hidden gem!

Cameron Park

Lover's Leap, Emmons Cliff, and Jacob's Ladder. It is the perfect place to set up your Eno hammock and spend the whole day just enjoying the gorgeous view of the Brazos and good old Waco.

The Waco Suspension Bridge

The perfect spot for Formal and Prom pictures, Engagements and tortilla tossing, this bridge is a Waco staple and is rich with history. You won't want to miss this beautiful sight!
