I'm not sure what's causing it, but love (and engagements) always seem to be in the air. ALWAYS. So if you and your special someone have been dating for 6+ months (or over 2 years like my boyfriend and I), it can be assumed you've run in to a majority of these awkward situations thanks to your peers...
"So...have you looked at rings yet?"
One of your friends openly threatens to end her relationship if there's no ring by spring.
Friends who are also in serious relationships start up an intense workout routine so they can look good in their engagement pictures...
Girls you barely know "jokingly" ask what they have to do to get invited to your wedding.
Your friend group refers to you and your boyfriend as "Mom" & "Dad".
Your sorority sister gets upset she wasn't the first in the pledge class to get engaged.
Your best friends take it upon themselves to start deciding who your maid of honor should be.
You get asked if you have picked out a style of bridesmaids dresses yet (probably by the same people who decided who your maid of honor will be).
You have been called "Mrs. _____".
Every time you and your significant other do anything remotely romantic in front of friends, they are suddenly "dying of cuteness."
No matter how many times you tell people you can't predict the future and don't know when/how/if there will be an engagement, they always give you that same look...
...and this is the only response you can muster.
Peers tell you they may or may not have a bet going on when the engagement is going to happen.
And let's not forget when any of the above situations happen when your significant other is with you...
