23 Things Jennifer Lawrence Has Taught Us

Besides how to make people laugh out of discomfort and legitimate joy at the same time.

I'll be real with you guys: I love Jennifer Lawrence. She's a chaotic goofball and I love it. She's grounded, though she may only attribute that to being "stupid," and she's just normal, a quality that is often underrated and overlooked.

Hidden within her many, many wonderful quirks are profound jewels of wisdom. Here are just a few.

1. Firstly, always be yourself no matter what.

Even if the situation doesn't necessarily call for it.

2. Appreciate your awkwardness and your quirks.

Really revel in it. "Better to embrace it than to fight it", I always say.

3. Remember that your parents were some of your first friends.

4. ...and that they are the ones that believe in and love you no matter what.

5. Remember to challenge yourself.

6. There are some things we'll never grow out of no matter how hard we try.

7. Appreciate the little things in life.

(Cliché quote alert) After all, the little things are the big things.

8. Have goals.

9. Don't let yourself forget your strengths and your value and that you are one awesome human being.

In some way aren't we all ... royal?

10. Always do the right thing.

It may look easier to do the wrong thing, but it isn't.

11. ...and be a leader, not a follower.

It's easy to succumb to the pressures of everyone around you and it's easy to think that you aren't good enough. Don't let someone tell you that you have to be like another person to be considered good enough, because you already are.

12. What a really good time looks like.

13. Always strive to stay humble.

14. Don't risk your health in an effort to be "good enough" (whatever that means).

In an interview with ET at the 2011 Oscars she said, "There's that Kate Moss quote that's like 'Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels' and...I can name a lot of things that taste better than skinny feels: bread, potatoes...a Philly cheesesteak and fries."

15. Find the fun in everything you do.

16. Remember this.

There's a difference between confidence and arrogance.

In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2013 she says, “Everybody’s like, ‘How can you remain with a level head?’ And I’m like, ‘Why would I ever get cocky? I’m not saving anybody’s life. There are doctors who save lives and firemen who run into burning buildings. I’m making movies. It's stupid."

17. Push yourself.

Who knows what you'll achieve?

18. Understand your talents and your gifts and run with them.

19. Learn to say no.

(Even though she was just joking when she did this).

20. Sometimes, fresh breath (or food) is more important than social graces.

21. Keep the child in you alive.

Yes, I still want candy and, yes, I still have a pressing urge to skip around sometimes.

22. Don't give into the pressures of advertising and Hollywood.

In an interview with Elle magazine in 2012 she says, “I’m never going to starve myself for a part … I don’t want little girls to be like, ‘Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I’m going to skip dinner,” she explained to the magazine. “That’s something I was really conscious of during training, when you’re trying to get your body to look exactly right. I was trying to get my body to look fit and strong -- not thin and underfed.”

23. Don't take life too seriously.

I had to really think about this last gif, simply because there were too many to choose from that fit this topic.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
