Seven Kids More Talented Than You

As kids, we all loved art. Coloring time was our favorite time! But when did most of us stop loving it? Well, we stopped when were told we were not good enough. I know a lot of people who have stuck to coloring inside the lines since then. But what if that is not what you were told? What if, instead, you were praised? That is the life that these kids are living!

Autumn De Forest, age13, painter. American painter originating from Las Vegas, Nevada, Autumn De Forest was referred to as "an artistic genius" when she was 8 years old. Her Andy Warhol/Pablo Picasso style has captured many eyes. And, not only is she a prodigy but she is now also a model, speaker, and philanthropist.

Kieron Williamson, age 12, painter. From Holt, Norfolk in England, Kieron was declared a prodigy at the age of six, when his second art show sold out in only 14 minutes. He is known for his water color paintings of landscapes like the one below, titled Frost At Dawn.

Avery Molek, age 8, drummer. Since the age of two, Avery Molek has had drumsticks in his hands. He has already performed with Kiss, and has been featured on various podcasts and talk shows. You can check out his skills on his YouTube channel where he plays classic rock covers!

Aelita Andre, age 7, painter. Based in Australia, Aelita Andre began painting at the age of only nine months!  She is known as an abstract expressionist artist. Her first solo exhibition was in New York City when she was four years old.

Iris Grace, age 5, painter. Iris Grace was born with autism. Just recently, she began to form words, but what is amazing is how she forms her artworks. Her sales from her paintings all go towards her art supplies and going to private therapists.

Ryan Wang, age 5, pianist. Featured on Ellen DeGeneres, this piano playing prodigy has stolen the hearts of many throughout the world. He performed at Carnegie Hall as part of the 2013 American Protege International Piano And Strings Competition.

Onafujiri "Fuji" Remet, age 3, photographer. From Lagos, Nigeria, this three year old photographer has impressed the world with his use of a camera at such a young age. He has already had his own exhibition and is only starting his journey of becoming a successful photographer.

And here I am starting my courses for art school! At least, we know the future will be filled with beautiful art, thanks to these kiddos.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
