“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” – Coco Chanel

Fashion takes creativity. Fashion allows you to be unique. If you happen to give two people a shirt and jeans, they wouldn’t wear it the same way via accessories, etc. Fashion is a way to define yourself and allow your creativity to spiral. Fashion is everywhere.

What exactly is art? Art is self-expression through creativity and it involves how one thing became it. You look at a piece of artwork and think of the artist who put their time and effort in it. I personally look at clothing in awe wondering who the designer is that created this artwork. Fashion exhibits around the world are surrounded by artwork and are appreciated the same way. You can go and view these exhibits and appreciate them, just like any other kinds of art. Art takes on self-expression in a human creation and visual form. Society has limited their admiration towards art bluntly, yet we appreciate it everyday by putting clothes on or viewing someone’s artwork via their outfit.

Every part of clothing has been made in some way. We don’t appreciate how skillful you must be to create an effective garment. We really need to take time to bow down to those who create haute couture and high-end fashion. Most of us don't encounter high-end or couture clothing due to the uniqueness that comes along with it. However, while looking at a beautiful couture gown, we don’t acknowledge the craftsmanship that came along with it.

“Everyday is a fashion show, and the world is a runway.” – Coco Chanel

It's typical for one to look at a fashion work and think it's odd or not your typical style; however, it is an original piece of artwork that has a story behind it. The designer who designed that original piece of fashion started from scratch and made that design to be the way it is today through many hours of time, thought and work put in. Growing up, I always thought art was a drawing, a painting or a piece of work that was made from scratch through creativity. Fashion follows through all the same steps and doesn’t get half as much appreciation. Fashion has evolved through time and slowly loses the impact and appreciation of overall fashion artwork. At New York Fashion Week, designers take this time to share the art they designed and plan to sell, typically leave people who appreciate fashion in awe. Yet, people who aren't involved in fashion turn their heads and never appreciate the artwork in NYFW.

There is so much more to fashion than sewing and coming up with ideas. You must know the right colors, psychology behind the human mind, future predictions of fashion movements, etc. It isn't easy and most people are blind to that.

For those of you who don’t appreciate fashion, take a moment in think about the amount of work put in and how much talent is involved in the works of these artworks.

Here are 10 photos that will blow your mind in the world of high-end fashion.
