7 Signs You're An Austin Peay Student

Austin Peay State University, founded in 1927 and once Austin Peay State College, is a university placed in Clarksville, Tn. With the statistics from 2011, it is stated that 10,873 students attend this university. Let me say, all 10,873 of us students definitely have come across some things on campus that make us sit back and wonder why we chose this great university. Sometimes, things happen on campus and down below are the seven signs that show you are a student at APSU.

1. Governors
Yeah, I know you have thought it, too. A governor as a mascot?! It's not that frightening, or Atlas, the old governor, was not. The new one is slightly terrifying and it is not because he is a strong mascot type, it's just because he sort of looks creepy. However, we still buy stuff that has that governor on there. I mean, it could be worse!

2. Sinkholes
You know you're an Austin Peay student when you get emails about the sinkholes that are happening all across campus. The whole city of Clarksville is basically a sinkhole, anyway. I am just waiting for the moment the earth sucks us all in.

3. Smoking Grounds
No, I am not talking about the grounds we are allowed to smoke on, but the drainage sites. When it starts to get cold outside, you can bet that the walkways will be closed and you will be forced to walk through the grass. It seems to be that time of the year when hell decides to rise up through the drainage pipes and causes heavy smoke to rise from below.

4. The River
It's summertime and you are expecting to walk outside and get a breath or fresh air and some sun on your skin. You will get the sun on your skin, but you best believe there is no fresh air being released. The heavy and disgusting stench of the Cumberland River is wafting in your nostrils and it almost makes you want to vomit.

5. Nubby
Oh, Nubby. He was probably the most loved squirrel on campus. His tail was gone and it was said that it was because someone ran it over and Nubby just kept running until it ripped apart from him. I don't know if that's true, but that is the story that was told. He would climb up in trees with his McDonald's bag and eat away at the leftover foods. Students on campus actually attended the memorial for him. BEST SQUIRREL EVER.

6. D2L Emails
Oh, you have to turn in your assignment tonight? Here, let me send you an email about how D2L is experiencing some downtime due to technical difficulties. I mean, what else do you expect.

7. Let's Go Peay
So what if your friends made fun of you for it. Everyone practically did when they found out what your school's chant is. I mean, it is quite embarrassing, but after a few years, you get over it and you are proud of shout, "Let's Go Peay," no matter how much the other team laughs at you.
