An Open Letter To Minzy

To the girl who rocked my K-Pop world.

We have never met in real life or on the internet, but we have many things in common.

You dance on the floor as smooth as Michael Jackson's moonwalk. I dance to genres ranging from K-pop to rap in my room. You sing warmly, with so much soul. I used to sing as an alto in school choirs for eight years until college. You have long hair; I used to have long hair. You were born in 1994, and I was born in 1994. You're Asian; I'm Asian.

But there are two things that separate us: You live in Korea, and you used to be part of one of Korea's biggest girl groups, 2NE1.

Gong Minzy, you came out as a star on your group's debut song "Fire" and took over the world with world tours and more dancing. Plus, you can sing.

However, I recently found out that you left the group, which shook the internet the next day. Many people claimed you left because you didn't get the chance to shine like your members CL and Park Bom. Your company, YG Entertainment, claimed you didn't tell the other members about your departure. Some fans weren't too surprised, especially when there were "signs" that you would potentially leave 2NE1. When YG announced 2NE1 will not disband and will regroup as a trio, everyone thought it'd be odd (or "weird") and incomplete without you. Fuse describes you as 2NE1's "secret" weapon.

Personally I am sad that you're leaving. Since discovering K-pop in high school and listening to you on every 2NE1 track, I feel like I'm parting ways with a friend as we go to different colleges or jobs. I may never see you again.

But you know what? I don't want to be sad and feel sorry for your departure. I want to congratulate you.

Minzy, you have already set yourself up for life after 2NE1. You opened your own dance studio. You also did a beautiful pictorial for W Korea. You know what else? You taught me how to be confident. Let the music move me, whether it is dancing or in life. So even though you won't be a member of 2NE1, you'll still do great things in the future. That is also one of the things we have in common.

Thank you, Minzy. I wish you good luck. Fighting!

Signed,

Your High School Fan, Asela Kemper

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
