10 Movies To Get You In The Holiday Spirit

If you're anything like me, you have already started watching those Christmas movies. If not, here are a few of the movies that are must-watches.

1. "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"

It doesn't matter too much if you watch the animated or live action version; that's a matter of preference.

2. "The Polar Express"

Personal option here, but this movie is and always will be timeless. There are so many lessons to be learned and there are so many little pieces of advice.

3. "Home Alone"

I recommend "Home Alone" and "Home Alone 2". Sometimes we think we hate our families to the point we want them to disappear, but we would get bored and lonely fast, as Kevin realizes.

4. "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation"

This movie is a classic. What I love about it the most is the fact it shows a dysfunctional family which makes it more realistic and relatable. Also, it's quotable. "Grace? She passed away 30 years ago?"

5. "Elf"

I won't go out of my way to watch this one, but it's still a good one. It re-enforces how important it is to cherish family.

6. "The Santa Clause"

This one is another one would I recommend to watch "The Santa Clause" and "The Santa Clause 2". I watch this one every Christmas because it's Tim Allen and he brings his humor to the character.

7. "A Charlie Brown Christmas"

What's a Christmas without Charlie Brown? It would be boring.

8. "Miracle on 34th Street"

It doesn't feel like Christmas without watching this movie. A little girl who is skeptical of Santa Claus? It's an insta classic. It might be lame, but I love the original one in black and white.

9. "It's a Wonderful Life"

Don't shoot me, but I haven't seen this one yet. If I have, I don't remember watching it. Despite my slack, this movie is still popular today even though the original was made in 1946.

10. "Love Actually"

This movie doubles as a date night romance and a holiday movie. With a star-studded cast, there is something for everyone to love.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
