11 Ways to Win Over a Southern Girl's Heart

A little southern charm never hurt no one.

1. Cowboy boots and jeans. Need I even say more ladies? Let’s be honest, the way to a southern girls heart is showing up on a date in some Wranglers and boots.

2. Take her dancing. Two-steppin right to my heart.

3. HOLD THE DANG DOOR.   I don’t know about you, but when a guy walks right on ahead inside and doesn’t even keep the door open, I instantly want to sucker punch him in the gut. Did your mama teach you nothing?!

4. Grab a guitar and start singing. If a man were to ever serenade me with his guitar, I would melt into a pool of emotions.

5. Show her you’re a man and grab a gun. There’s nothing more embarrassing than when I can shoot a .22 better than a guy.

6. Trucks, trucks, and more trucks. Yes, just yes.

7. Show her there’s more to you than just good looks and an angelic voice. Be open with her and show her that you want to pursue her and you actually want to be with her. I’m honestly sick of the “just-talking” phase. Be a man and define the relationship. Honesty and vulnerability are key.

8. On your first date, go up to the door. Please, please, please, don’t just text her saying, “Here.” And while you are at it, grab some flowers.

9. Now go inside and meet the parents. There’s nothing more respectful than going inside to meet her mom and dad. That will show them that you are a grown man and not “just some college kid”.

10. Surprise her “Just Because." If she comes home to flowers and a card—that literally cost $10 at Wal-Mart—she will see that you care about her and just want to make her smile and make her happy.

11. Let her know she’s all you see. When a guy lets you know that you’re all they are paying attention to, that adds major brownie points. If you are talking to her but then proceed to stare at some other girl, she will feel like she isn’t good enough and will completely shut down.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
