Staying in is great, but what if you miss something?

The 11 Stages Of FOMO

Every college student has experienced FOMO at least once in their college career. FOMO or the fear of missing out is a very real feeling. Sometimes you just wanna come home, put on your onesie and watch The Office, but then you get invited somewhere and BOOM the FOMO immediately sets in, and you then spend the next hour deciding what to do.

1. You analyze how tired you are or how much work you have to get done and decide it's best to not go out. Also being in college your bank account might not be as happy as you would like it to be, so staying in is the best decision.

2. As you've settled into your couch or bed for the night your phone rings or beeps and you've just been invited to go out with friends. Your immediate reaction is a big ole NOPE, but you allow yourself to flirt with the possibility of going out.

3. The fact that you didn't even know about this event occurring gives you FOMO. You get sad and feel left out. You have to go, you can't miss one second of what's about to go down.

4. Then you realize how comfy you are and how you don't wanna get dressed or even be social. What if you don't know the majority of the people that will be at this gathering? Talk about awk...

5. You're probably an episode into your show or reading your books or seeing if it's possible to eat an entire pack of Oreo's in one night (it is totally possible). You then check Insta or Snapchat and everyone's posts are on point.

6. Everyone looks spectacular and it looks like they are having the time of their lives and the what if's begin to set in. What if you met the love of your life? What if something really funny happens? Secondhand stories are the worst along with inside jokes you're not a part of.

7. People are having fun without you. You can't take it anymore. You decide to go out even though the couch is comfy. Besides Netflix isn't going anywhere, but this event might be a legend in the making. You rally and prepare to go out.

8. The closet and bathroom become a mess. You've never gotten ready so fast in your life.

9. The playlist in the car is on point and you get pumped! You WILL have the time of your life and not regret the decision to leave home.

10. You meet up with your friends and this place is #LIT. Go you for making the decision to go out, cause it's awesome.

11. You get home after a great night and are glad you followed in the footsteps of Drake and adopted YOLO as your life motto.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
