Inside A Guy's Mind During Sorority Recruitment

August is almost upon us, and that means one thing for Greek organizations: recruitment. Recruitment for fraternities is relaxed. Typically, it involves activities that simply center around social interaction between brothers and potential new members. For sororities, it is the complete opposite.

Let's not shy away from the fact that recruitment is arguably the most important period of time for sororities, and it is treated as such. As a guy, this can be confusing for us to understand. Particularly, the process itself seems ridiculous to us, and here are 21 thoughts that race through our heads during sorority recruitment.

1) This is like the NFL draft of collegiate women.

2) They would probably be more comfortable wearing jeans.

3) I wonder if Rebecca survived sisterhood round?

4) Really not sure why Rebecca is crying right now.

5) WHO IS LILLY?

6) Is Jack Rodgers the guy in charge of Greek life?

7) They seemed more interesting in the rush video.

8) Rebecca is crying again. She didn't wear the correct shade of blue.

9) I should stay off of Instagram for a few days.

10) This girl keeps saying that she found her home. She lives three hours from here.

11) All of this planning and they could've just grilled food and watched college football.

12) Sorority, or a well dressed army?

13) They should just get the sorting hat from Harry Potter for this.

14) I would want to be in Hufflepuff. Hufflepuff was underrated.

15) No, they didn't "almost win" Greek week.

16) It can't be healthy to smile for that amount of time.

17) They should just show up to the preference dinner in a high quality pair of sweatpants.

BID DAY

18) So many arts and crafts, I feel like i'm at Hobby Lobby.

19) Scratch the NFL draft idea, it's more like a version of Deal or no Deal.

20) It's not even Halloween and all I see are costumes.

21) They are wearing enough headbands to keep Lebron James content for an entire season.

Sometimes it is best to create a laugh before the real events kick in. As for us guys, we will never truly grasp the gravity of sorority recruitment. Our spots in our fraternities were forged through the mellow atmosphere of our recruitment, and the connections we made with the guys who were already in the chapter. Either way, good luck, and enjoy fall rush 2015.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
