The 2016 Golden Globe awards aired Sunday night. While eager to see which films would come out on top for this year, a more important concern for me was which actress would steal the spotlight on the red carpet.
1. Brie Larson
Larson took the red carpet in an elegant and hip Calvin Klein cut-out gown. The adorable actress grabbed the attention of all those watching. The champagne-colored gown complemented the actress' features, while the beads sparkled throughout the evening.
2. Amy Schumer
Comedian Amy Schumer was nothing to laugh at. Walking on the red carpet in her black and white Prabal Gurung gown reminded audiences everywhere how much we respect the professional side of this actress who, generally, has us holding our stomach from laughing too hard. She pulled off this gown in the most classy fashion.
3. Katy Perry
Perry's simplicity on the red carpet showed the audience her soft side. The blush pink Prada gown didn't shoot whipped cream, or bring us to the beaches of California, but accentuated her natural beauty.4. Lady Gaga
Shall we note this gown is a custom Versace? There is no better combination than platinum blond and black velvet. Gaga's classic style was showcased in her gown selection. It wouldn't be Gaga without a twist on a classic style. The enlarged hip line set the gown apart from the rest.5. Jennifer Lopez
Leave it to J-Lo to pull off this amazing gown by Giambattista Valli. To point out the obvious, she is wearing a cape. The cape creates interesting lines on her arms, but is subtle at the neckline. The criss-cross skirt is flattering to her figure and the long train constantly kept the attention of photographers that evening.
6. Amy Adams in Versace
7. Jennifer Lawrence in Dior
These two actresses in red looked equally stunning, however, the focus was really on Lawrence. The audience loved her cut-out Dior gown, taking the attention away from Adams. It could be that Lawrence's career has grown dramatically in recent years and she is now an icon on and off the red carpet. Though her gown appears simple, it is the presentation that puts her on top.(Images: credit to the New York Times)
