So you have had a rough day...

I get it. Things are currently crazy right now. We have just gotten back from spring break, midterms has passed, and now we are in the final few weeks of classes. Professors are throwing in last minute assignments, and that project that you have been putting off all semester is finally due. All of the stress from the semester is piling on, and some are even hitting the point of snapping. Plus, now that the weather is getting warmer, everyone is just ready for summer to be here, meaning that it is getting harder and harder each day to actually get up and go to class. If you have had a rough day, week, or even month, a little self-care can work wonders, and help you finally breathe again.

Take a nap!

Naps are seriously the greatest thing ever. They are always joked about with teens, but naps really work wonders. Napping from 10 minutes to an hour can help replenish energy and put you in a fantastic mood. So, pull on your super soft sweatpants and hoodie, and curl up with your warmest blanket for an hour or so (maybe 2 or 3...we have all done it.)

Pamper Yourself!

Whenever you have a rough day, sometimes you just feel so gross. Your hair does not feel right, your clothes feel annoying and you just want to change out of them, and you do not feel good in your skin at all. Luckily, something as simple as a hair cut or trim can actually help you feel better. Having the hairdresser touch and play with your hair relaxes the body and can relieve stress. Another way to feel good is to clean or organize. Messy rooms lead to messy minds, so making your room look really nice and put together can help you feel amazing and like you have something together.

If you are still feeling gross in your skin, take a shower. Pamper yourself. Just wash your hair and body as a way to rid yourself of the negativity that occurred lately. Shave your legs, use a really good face wash, or even make your own face mask or body scrub to use in the shower. Just feeling clean can really help the body feel amazing and relaxed.

Eat Some Food!

Comfort food is literally always the answer to a bad day. The feeling of a giant spoon breaking the surface of a new Nutella jar automatically touches the heart. Or you can go the healthy and most suggested way to stress eat and make a healthy meal that you know you will enjoy. Lately, I have been on an oatmeal kick. When I was having a rough week, I decided to go and make some bananas and cream oatmeal with a dollop of Nutella on top, and it tasted like heaven. Obviously Nutella is basically the key to happiness, and then combined with warm banana slices and oatmeal, it really hit the soul. I felt full, relaxed, and like a weight was lifted off of my shoulders. I also felt really good and energized since oatmeal and bananas are sort of a super food.

Call Your Friends!

It is indeed a fact that no one can make you feel better than your best friends. When it gets tough, call them up and vent about why you are feeling down. Friends are guaranteed to make you feel way better. In fact, why not just take a break and go hang out with some of your best friends. Have a great time, share a laugh, and it will work wonders for you. More often than not, you will forget why you were even down in the first place.

Stay Positive!

Lastly, just keep your head up and stay positive. Yes, life can be tough sometimes, but you have to learn to fight through it all because what will come out of it will be extraoridinary. Whenever you feel like you are falling, force yourself to get right back up and keep fighting. Always keep fighting. Do not let one bad day, week, month, or whatever ruin everything you have been fighting for.

So you have had a rough day...

You will be okay.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
