Bad days always happen.

So You've Had A Bad Day...

So you've had a bad day...

You come home from a long day at work or school. You drop your bags down on the floor as you reflect on the terrible outcome of today. You think, "I should have just pretended I'm sick or whatever." As you think about today, you proceed to look at yourself in the mirror. "Wow, I look awful and worn out." This is what you mumble to yourself. So you've had a bad day.

Maybe if you eat something for dinner, things will be OK...maybe. Unfortunately, your dinner doesn't make you happy because you are thinking about the disaster that could have avoided. Maybe watching some television will help, but then you sit there agonizing every bad part of your day. So you've had a bad day.

You chat with your friends about the events that occurred today. You might post something on your social media about your day. Your conversations are full of complaints and negative comments about today. Who could have a day worse than yours, right? So you've had a bad day.

Honestly, we've all had some terrible days. Some of us have a daily routine to complain about anything and everything. Some of us think we can find happiness by judging others in order to make ourselves look better. And some of us don't know how to shake off the little things, so we make it into a mountain.

I'm not saying that every day will always be a happy day, but wouldn't that be nice if that happened? Unfortunately, there are things that are out of our control. We cannot control other people's actions and words. What we can control is our self and how we react to it.

If you are being bullied by your classmate or coworker, stand up for yourself in a mature manner. If you are complaining about your day, try to find the positives about your day instead. If you are saying rude comments, remind yourself that you can't take back the words you say.

Basically, you can control how you react to the bad things. You can avoid the huge mountain that comes from these built-up small things. You can choose to think positively rather than be a "Negative Nancy." You can be the uplifting person in your peers' eyes.

You can do all of this, if you decide to do this. You can make every day a happy day when you shake off those small things. It's up to you. What will you choose?

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.
