You've Got To Work, Work, Work, Work

Like Rihanna says in her song we all got to "work, work, work, work, work."

So you've been working hard so far this week and I bet you're tired. So am I and so is everyone else around you most likely. I promise that you are not the only person who has to work hard or has to give extra time out of their day to get something done. As students, we are at college in hopes of a better life, achieving a job in a certain career field, to set an example for others, to support ourselves and our family, and the reasons vary for each person. The one thing we all have in common as college students is that we are all striving to get that degree. We are all yearning for that next step that will get us ahead in achieving our dreams.

No matter what profession or career field you are going into I encourage you to not give up. Whatever goal or dream it might be, it is worth your time to pursue if it makes you happy. Otherwise, I would consider something that you enjoy. Make sure you aren't pursuing a profession because of the paycheck, but because you actually have a passion for it. At the end of the day, how you felt about your job and whether you enjoyed it is what you will remember, not the amount of zeros that appear on your check.

I think Bob Dylan says it best, "What’s money? A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do.”

Getting to that place where you can do what you want is never something easy. As college students, we are working every day to get to that place. In addition, it is never guaranteed that straight out of graduating from college that we will get this opportunity. However, that does not mean we should give up.This should give us a boost of encouragement and aid us in further challenging ourselves to keep working till that opportunity becomes a reality.

In the meantime, try to acquire skills that will be necessary for the career you wish to pursue. Also, it won't hurt you to try to gain some real life experience before jumping directly into your desired field. You can do this by interning, job shadowing, and research other ways that you can get the first-hand experience for your future career. For instance, I , myself, would love one day to further advance in my career of writing. As a content creator on Odyssey, this has become a perfect platform for me to do that. Being able to get advice and feedback from my editor has been key in improving my skills as a writer and has inspired me to continue to write on more topics than I would before.

Just remember to work hard and when you're tired and can't push anymore, keep pushing. You have more strength in yourself than you realize. And the longer I have been a student in college the more I realize all that I can truly accomplish if I believe in myself. And of course, I wouldn't be anywhere without my loving Heavenly Father guiding me every step of the way. I know that when I am weary He will give me rest and I can come to him in my time of need.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
