When it comes to binge-watching things, I don't strictly stick to Netflix like some people I know. Sometimes you have it change it up, you feel me? When I need a fix of something different, I normally look to the land of YouTube and find a makeup tutorial or a dance video to settle my craving. From beauty gurus to my favorite choreographers, here is a list of my absolute favorite YouTubers.
1. Jeffree Star
When it comes to Mr. Star here, I go to his channel when I need a good laugh or I need an actual honest review of a controversial product. I can always count on him for this, along with surprise visits from one of his 5 Pomeranians or his boyfriend, Nathan. Whatever the topic, I always enjoy him.
2. James Charles
James is another beauty guru (there will be a few on this list just be warned) very similar to Jeffree, however, James also has an Acapella group that I can count on for the occasional dose of music. Their covers blow me away. Not only is James extremely talented with makeup, but he has an amazing voice. He delegates a lot of the lead parts in the songs to feature other vocalists which is pretty cool considering he started the group, so you'd think he would take the lead a lot.
3. Joe Santagato
Joe is a comedian. On his channel, you will find lots of laughs from multiple series such as "People of Walmart," and "Idiots of the Internet." There are also a few "advice" videos on his channel, for lack of a better word to use to describe them. I don't know man, you have to watch them to be able to understand. I enjoy him very much
4. Matt Steffanina
Matt is an amazing choreographer. He mainly teaches classes at Millenium Dance Complex in Los Angeles, CA, but he does travel around the world to teach workshops at other studios and dance conventions. He posts his work on his channel along with tutorials so dancers (like me) who cannot make his workshops can still learn the combos should they choose to, which I highly appreciate.
5. Laura Lee
Laura Lee is yet another beauty guru. She mostly reviews a lot of products, but unlike other beauty YouTubers, she reviews a lot of drugstore products. So if you're looking for a new foundation or eyeshadow palette without making your wallet cry, check her out. I tend to break the bank with the products I enjoy so I look to her channel to help me not do that.
6. Manny MUA
MUA stands for Make Up Artist, so you can see what Manny is... Yup, another beauty guru. Manny has every tutorial on his channel for any occasion you could ever think of. New Year's Eve, Christmas, Thanksgiving, or just the everyday makeup look. You can count on him for inspiration. He does pretty honest reviews of a lot of products too, so if you're on the fence about buying something you can look to him for that as well, I know I do.
7. Tricia Miranda
Tricia Miranda is very similar to Matt Steffanina in the sense that they are both choreographers who work at Millenium and they both travel and teach. The difference between the two is Tricia Miranda's classes are normally geared toward older dancers. She normally has combos to explicit music and her style of dance can range from somewhat sensual to hard-hitting. She also has some tutorials up, so I've taken it upon myself to learn some of my favorite ones from her.
8. Jordan Byers
Jordan Byers is another beauty YouTuber (I'm addicted to makeup sorry). She's very quirky in her videos and she's from a small town in Ohio which makes her relatable, in my opinion. She makes me laugh along with giving good reviews of products. She's pretty much the whole package.
9. Nikita Dragun
Nikita is a beauty YouTuber as well, but she has something special about her: she's transgender. Not only is she an amazing makeup artist with a powerful personality, she uses her platform to tell her story and raise awareness for the LGBTQ+ community. You'll find makeup tutorials on her channel, yes, but you will also find serious videos about her process of transitioning and lighthearted videos of her "reacting to her boy videos." I absolutely love Nikita.
10. The Dolan Twins
The Dolan Twins, also known as Ethan and Grayson, are similar to Joe Santagato. They create content geared toward humor, and they're pretty to look at. One of my personal favorites of theirs is when they did "The Gymnastics Challenge." As a former gymnast, it was a little scary to watch but it was pretty funny. Highly recommend.
11. Nikkie Tutorials
Nikkie is a very creative, experienced makeup artist. I, personally, have learned a lot from her because she goes in depth with her tutorials. She can do anything from an artistic look, to a look with vibrant colors, to something w neutral browns and blacks. She also reviews some...bizarre...products. Her channel is quite amazing, I dig it.
So as you can see I obviously don't just waste my time on Netflix, it's YouTube too. Maybe now you can get the best of both worlds as well.
