It’s no secret that YouTube is a media platform that allows you to spiral into another realm and three hours later you find yourself watching cat videos and conspiracy theories and are not even sure how you got there.

As I got older, I started to become extremely interested in makeup. I was, and still am, fascinated by the way that different makeup artists were able to apply their makeup with such artistry. I was mesmerized by every tutorial I watched on YouTube, and though I couldn’t mimic the looks on myself, I couldn’t help but continue to watch video after video.

I was constantly jealous of YouTubers that were sent PR packages full of free makeup that I could only dream of owning. If I said I never thought of starting my own channel with the goal of getting on a makeup company’s PR list, I would be lying. I never did make a video, though I definitely still consider it to this day.

Today, however, that passion has much less to do with free makeup and more with the love that I have found within the makeup industry.

I have said this a million times before, but I don’t want to be a makeup artist. While I do enjoy spending ridiculous amounts of time doing my own makeup, I don’t want to do other people’s makeup.

It has taken me a few years to realize that while I thought the talent of the YouTubers I was watching was incredible, I was so much more focused on the way that the products were presented and I truly cared about the reaction to each new product that was released.

I payed attention to how the products were advertised, how they performed versus how they claimed to perform, how viewpoints of products differed from each other and every other aspect of a products release.

I have always known that I wanted to work in public relations, and I was lucky enough to be able to gain some experience this summer at an incredible PR agency.

The problem was, however, that I never knew what I wanted to focus on within the industry. For the longest time I was under the misunderstanding that within the makeup industry, you can really only be either a makeup artist or do sales for the companies.

After a lot of consideration for the makeup industry and PR, I learned that I am interested in PR and influencer relations. If it weren’t for YouTube, however, I never would have come across the passion that I have had for years.

With that being said, I feel the need to say thank you to YouTube for helping me figure out what I want to do in life.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
