For those of you who do not know who or what Jacksgap is, he was a British YouTuber who took a gap year before going to college to figure out what he wanted to do. The first video they ever posted was six years ago, and it was that video which I stumbled upon during the summer right before I went to high school. The creator is known as Jack Harries and with him his twin brother Finn Harries. However, the last video posted was over two years ago, and this is an article saying how much I miss Jacksgap.
To start off with, this channel was originally kind of a funny and entertainment channel. Jack when he started really had no idea what he was doing, so he kind of was just doing what he saw and probably what seemed fun to him at the time. The channel started to change in later years as they were filming their trips around the world, as well as issues that hit home with them. This is most likely due to the fact that both brothers did eventually go to University.
Jack Harries is now a filmmaker and photographer. He was also known for being on a show called the 'School of Comedy'. He did study at University and it started to show in his videos of what he found to be his passion. His videos started shifting into more accurately labeled projects as he followed stories that he wanted to do. Such as he started a segment called 'Shed Sessions' where he featured bands and musicians in a small shed in his backyard. This ultimately gave bands coverage and a wider audience to learn about them.
Jack's brother Finn Harries also went to University and although he was not originally featured in the channel he did co-create the channel with his brother and eventually became a regular in both creating and in being featured on the channel. He is also a filmmaker, but currently is a student at Parsons for Architecture.
He was actually the inspiration for the last video that Jacksgap made as well as a featured speaker on a TedXTalks. He is currently a great environmentalist who encourages you to take on climate change, which is what his Ted Talk was as well as the last Jacksgap video.
Now with this basic understanding, I also want to add that this youtube channel brought so many laughs and entertainment for me and other viewers that I wish it would come back. It's the channel that opened me up to the world of YouTube and others who vlog and make funny videos.
It was an escape for whenever you felt sad and needed a laugh, and it was also an inspiration to watch these two brothers who really were not sure what they wanted to do with life grow up and successfully figure it out. So to Jacksgap, Finn Harries, and Jack Harries on behalf of everyone who enjoyed your videos thank you, and we hope to see you again soon.
