This is your sign to finally start that YouTube channel that you have always dreamed of having! Starting your own channel is an amazing way to express yourself online and give your viewers an inside scoop of your life, interests and experiences!

However, sometimes beginning a new hobby that you don't necessarily have a lot of experience in can be a bit overwhelming at first, especially when it comes to editing videos and using a camera. There is always a first to everything, including YouTube.

Not every YouTuber that you see creating incredible videos every day knew exactly what they were doing at first, either! Trust yourself, and do things that make you happy, and if that includes making funny videos of your dog or lifestyle tips, then do it!

Here are five reasons why you should face your fear and finally start that channel!

1. It is a perfect way to get creative!

YouTube is an incredible platform to really push your creative talents and experiment with different effects, filters and footage! Although the editing process can be a bit tedious at times, it is fun to sit back and watch what you created on your own come to life. Your channel is what makes you, you! Fill it with videos that make you happy and something that you would genuinely want others to see. Don't create content that you couldn't imagine yourself watching on your own. Be you, be original and have fun with it!

2. You are joining a large community of people who have the same interests as you!

Whether the niche you choose is centered on beauty, lifestyle or fashion, creating a YouTube channel can introduce you to other creators who have the same passions as you! This is a great way to learn from other artists, network in the industry you want to work in and make some new friends online. The best way to earn support on your videos is to show support to others.

3. It's free and fun!

Starting a YouTube channel does NOT mean you need to use incredibly fancy equipment or expensive editing softwares. The best part of this experience is that it is FREE and very easy to get into! Most laptops have editing softwares already downloaded, such as iMovie. Don't have a fancy vlogging camera? Thank goodness you have a camera on your cell phone that has amazing quality!

Plenty of well-known YouTubers have emphasized that you do not need to invest in incredibly expensive equipment when you are first starting out. If you are new to everything YouTube-related, the best way to learn is watching tutorials and teaching yourself the basics!

4. You can educate other people

Whether you want to create videos teaching people how to change tires on a car or show what it is like being a student studying fashion in the Big Apple, your audience is interested in getting to know YOU and what you are all about! You truly are the boss of your own channel so create content that is educational, entertaining and engaging!

Leave your audience with a new piece of interesting information that they may not have known before watching. Here, you can teach people different perspectives on issues, new hobbies to get involved in and fun things to do around the area!

5. Financial perks

One of the best perks about making it big on YouTube is being able to potentially make some money! Although this should not be the main reason why you are starting a channel, it is a great incentive to grow your channel and post consistently! Most YouTubers have their channel as their full time job, and if that is something you are interested in, then you better start creating!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours.
