Rawr: it means "I love you" in dinosaur. xD

Okay, please don't stop reading, I know that was bad.

Does no one understand you? Do you always have to tell your mom that it's not a phase? Did you have a studded belt from Hot Topic, knee-high Converse, band shirts, and a life's supply of eyeliner at one point in your life? Congrats! This one is for you, emo kids. These thirteen songs will send you right back to the darkest point of your life (or if you're anything like my roommate and me, you're still emo).

1. Welcome To The Black Parade - My Chemical Romance

That first note hits you so hard. Break out the eyeliner. Dye your hair a terrible shade of red. Go get your heavy sweeping bangs back. This song is just an emotional roller coaster, honestly. Also, this song was released in 2006. Yes, this gem is ten years old, and we're still crying over it.

2. A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More "Touch Me" - Fall Out Boy

"'Cause you're just the girl all the boys wanna dance with, and I'm just the boy who's had too many chances" and "I don't blame you for being you, but you can't blame me for hating it" are pretty much tied for the two best lyrics of all time. Especially the second one. Such classic emo angst.

3. I Write Sins Not Tragedies - Panic! At The Disco

An all time favorite all around. Emo kid or not, "I Write Sins..." was your life at some point. Maybe it still is. You may have forgotten about it up until this point, but I promise you, if you turn it on now, you will find you still know every single word. What a beautiful wedding, right?

4. Holiday/Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Green Day

Yes, the combo. The angst in this song is basically palpable. Can I get another amen? AMEN. Holiday gets you all fired up and then they hit you with Boulevard of Broken Dreams and you're suddenly crying and looking out a car window like you're in a music video.

5. Misery Business - Paramore

A classic of all classics. Born in 2007. Feel old yet? I do. And I still listen to this song at least once a week. So angsty. She didn't mean to brag though, don't worry. And would you look at those bangs?

6. I Miss You - blink-182

Honestly, do I even need to explain why this song is on here? It's probably the most classic of all of the classic emo songs. WHERE ARE YOOUUUU? AND I'M SO SORRRAYYY.

7. King For A Day - Pierce the Veil feat. Kellin Quinn

Have I lost you yet? It's about to get real. Like super hardcore emo. You're a true emo kid if you know these next few. "King For A Day" was such a classic because it was Pierce the Veil and Kellin Quinn. It was literally an emo kid's dream. And the music video was just iconic.

8. There's A Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought Of It Yet - Panic! At The Disco

Alright, so if I've lost you by now, that's okay. But if not, you're getting closer to the title of true emo. A Fever You Can't Sweat Out in its entirety is one of the greatest albums of all time. There's nothing more satisfying than getting all of the lyrics to this song right. His black slacks have accentuating off-white pinstripes. Everything should go according to plan.

9. This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race - Fall Out Boy

Bless Patrick Stump. Bless Fall Out Boy. Bless Infinity On High. Bless, okay. Literally any song on Infinity On High is an emo classic but "This Ain't A Scene" just has that extra angst.

10. Ignorance - Paramore

Does this really need explanation? Just look at Hayley. The punk is nearly tangible. Also, "ignorance is your new best friend" is such a great insult. It's tasteful, yet offensive.

11. Helena - My Chemical Romance

I'ma let you finish, but Helena was one of the best music videos of all time. Seriously. Iconic. Apart from the music video though, Helena gets the emotions flowing (even though emo kids aren't supposed to have those).

12. A Trophy Fathers Trophy Son - Sleeping With Sirens

Brb crying. A Trophy Fathers Trophy Son is one of the best songs ever, emo or not. While a lot of these songs are angsty just for the sake of angst, this song is deep and emotional af. Although non-emo kids may think it's "just screaming," the lyrics are so sad. *tear*

13. A Match Into Water - Pierce The Veil

A Match Into Water is a masterpiece, honestly. Vic Fuentes wrote this song about an ex with breast cancer... after they broke up. What a sweetheart. Wow, I'm starting to fangirl again. Fun fact: I live in Vic Fuentes's hometown now :')

Okay. It was seriously so hard to narrow it down to thirteen because every song by all the artists listed above are really the soundtrack to the emo life. And this isn't even including more recent masterpieces like Panic!'s new Death of a Bachelor or Twenty One Pilots' Vessel and Blurryface. But anyhow, go put on a pound of eyeliner and break out the old band shirts. You know you want to.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours.
