An Open Letter To My Parents

Dear Ma and Pa,

As the summer finally comes to an end, and we start to pack up my room to move back into school, there's a couple of things I thought I would thank you for before we go our separate ways all over again. I know it hasn't been easy, letting go of your child to this big ominous world to having them back in your safe cove to only letting us leave the nest yet again. So, as I get ready to dive head first back into this whole college living, I have a few things Id like to thank you for.

Thanks for allowing me to grab an extra $20 from you whenever I asked. I'm sure it was nice not living with a mooch for the past nine months, but the time came and you never turned me down. Also, thanks for making me a nice, home-cooked meal whenever I asked for one, even if it was just some eggs and toast. You have no idea how fondly I'll remember those eggs when the sweet, old lunch ladies splat a pile of them onto my plate in the dining hall.

Thank you for picking up my room and doing my laundry without me even having to ask. It was hard learning the hard way that no one was gonna pick up that mountain of dirty clothes in the corner....no matter how many times I closed my eyes, I opened my eyes back up to always see them there. But now that I'm home? I have two awesome parents who will make that mess disappear in the blink of an eye!

And lastly, thanks for just being there. It wasn't the easiest going to school where you didn't know anyone. And it certainly wasn't easy to not have my parents there to talk about it with. You guys are the bees knees and I have no idea what I would do without you around, even when you're nagging me. I can't wait till I can come home and tell you all my tales of college, well at least the parent-censored ones!

I love you.

Love,

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
