Libertarianism is summed up nicely by this party preamble: "Our aim is to keep the Republicans out of your bedroom and the Democrats out of your pockets so that you can make your own choices and live your life as you choose." If this sounds anything like you, take a peek:
You have an inherent distrust of government.
"Down with the establishment!" is more than just something people yell out of sheer irony. Pew Research Center reports that only 19 percent of Americans feel they can trust their government always or most of the time. And this can be seen practically everywhere--in street art,
You support LGBTQ+ rights.
As was intimated previously in the "keep the Republicans out of your bedroom" quote, Libertarians support not giving a crap what anyone does in their private life, so long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. So you could be doing it with a dolphin and libertarians wouldn't care (to clarify: so long as the sex was consensual, which is impossible since dolphins can presently only give dubious consent at best). So as Ron Swanson would say:
You think censorship is the worst.
The more you look into Libertarianism, the more you'll find one of its cynosures is freedom. Think 'Merican bald eagle, except less crazy. Then again, at the 2016 Libertarian National Convention one guy stripped on stage, so maybe just as crazy. Anyway, the Libertarian platform is not down with anything that infringes our right to freedom of expression, religion and speech. Therefore, we do not approve of media censorship and religious discrimination.
You think we should strive for a free market system.
It is our belief that most businesses will ultimately become too big to manage properly (as is shown by all the failing corporations that the government claims warrant bailouts). When these businesses fail, it leaves gaps for smaller businesses to grow, and then fail, too, when they get too big to manage. In this way, the marketplace can constantly grow and adapt without hard-earned tax dollars needlessly lubricating the system. Libertarians believe that we should let businesses sink or swim on their own terms--based on how good or bad their business model is.
