So You're Not Perfect

It's ok! Everyone has flaws. Look for the good and accept them.

No matter what, everyone is good at some things and not so good at others. Even if someone seems like a perfect homemaker/worker/mom, everyone makes mistakes. Here's some news; it's OK. As P!nk says, so what, you're still a rock star.

1. You're not a good cook.

That's okay. Cooking isn't second nature to a lot of people. It involves learning through practice. Maybe you need to add extra spices or tweak the recipe a little. As long as you're making sure you fully cook the meat and eggs, I can promise you won't kill anyone (you should always double check for food allergies.) Even if you still have a hard time, sticking to more basic, fresh food recipes can be very healthy and your family and friends will appreciate them.

2. You lose your temper.

It always happens to everyone sooner or later. The important thing is to train yourself to refrain from saying hurtful things. It's harder to take back what you said because nobody can read your mind to know if you really meant it. Whenever possible, just try to leave a situation when you feel the steam start to come out of your ears. If you do say something hurtful, you just have to prove how sorry you are through actions more so than words. All wounds heal in time.

3. You procrastinate

It's hard not to in our fast-paced, media filled society. Just going through a day of work and chores can be incredibly exhausting. Some people work best under stress; just make sure you don't do it all the time because constant stress is very unhealthy.

4. You have a bad habit of talking about people

I think somewhere in our genetic code we find a need to talk about others. Even when I consciously tell myself not to, sometimes I can't help it. It's better to vent and let off steam. Just don't do it all the time. It's not worth tarnishing your reputation just to feed your ego. You can also follow my rule: any time you say something somewhat negative about someone, try to follow it with a compliment.

5. You're socially awkward sometimes

Just embrace it! Even talk show hosts and celebrities who talk for a living get flustered. Be thankful you're not always on camera. When you feel uncomfortable, just try to be yourself as much as you can. It's no use making yourself more uncomfortable, right?

6. You do bad on pressure

Like my mom and grandma always taught me, life is a never-ending learning adventure. You're not expected to know everything but you are expected to learn and try to do better next time. Just remember whatever the situation is, think of the people it can affect first. The quickest solution isn't always best.

No matter what, nobody is perfect. It's being imperfect that makes us all alike, and what we're imperfect at that makes us each unique. Everyone excels at different things and gets to shine in their own way.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
