Christmas Traditions are common among many households. Families may gather together to build a gingerbread house, sip hot cocoa and tell stories of past years, or to decorate the tree. Personally, my family has traditions such as waiting until Christmas Eve to wrap gifts, going to church service, and then getting all our loved ones together to watch A Christmas Story.
I love it. It doesn't feel like Christmas until all of these events take place. I'm sure many feel this way.
As we grow up, it may be easy to feel as if we are "too old" for these traditions. However, this is never the case. You are never too old to uphold traditions or to create new ones. These special moments are what make the holidays feel warm and cozy. They mean a lot and someday you will look back and smile upon these very dear memories. So if you're feeling tired or you just don't want to participate, do it anyways. I promise it is never unworthy of your time.
Maybe you're on the opposite end of the spectrum. If your family doesn't have any traditions then take it upon yourself to create some. They don't have to be anything elaborate, just something to get the whole family and all your friends together. Bake cookies, read The Polar Express, or simply drive around and look at Christmas lights while singing all the classic carols. Make an effort to be present and to be with those you love – it's always the better option.
Merry Christmas! Make it one to remember!
