If You're Hurting Too Much

Let me hold your hand through the dark

I know that in the dark of the night, you look at your wrists and contemplate if tonight you will make another mark or just go to sleep.

I know that you stare at that bottle deciding if you can numb yourself.

And I know you stare in the mirror in disgust, deciding every minute what you can fix.

I have one thing to say: you are more.

You are more than a number on a scale.

You are more than a mark on your wrist.

You are more than a word society labels you with.

You are more than you think.

You are beauty and strength, disguised in disaster and hurt.

You are hope and light, blocked by the darkness of night and the weight of the world.

You have all the possibilities in the world laid out in front of you, but they are hidden behind the doubt that clouds your vision.

I can’t make the world bright for you, I can’t show you the sunshine and rainbows that are here waiting for you to see them, but what I can do is hold your hand through the dark.

I can be there in the blink of an eye, on the phone, through text or holding you in my arms, if you give me that chance.

It will never change how I look at you or be a burden, which I know is your fear, but it is my privilege and something that I want you to trust me with.

I can tell you all the things you need to hear and all the things that are the truth, but the storm inside of you will continue to rage through these words until you let yourself breathe.

So here I am telling you again: Breathe, cry, release the pain and let yourself be all that you are capable of.

Let yourself break on me, and let your heart heal for the first time.

You are deserving of peace and of love, by others and more importantly by yourself.

The storm inside of you wont let you believe it but you are worth so much.

You are worth more than there are grains of sand.

You are worth more than the richest of treasures.

You are worth more than there are stars in the sky.

Your worth is unable to be priced, to have a number put on it, to be described, because you, yes you, are that IMPORTANT.

You are the world to those who surround you, the ones who are begging you to let them in on your storm.

You are the reason someone wakes up in the morning and the reason someone stays up at night.

YOU ARE THE REASON FOR YOU TO BELIEVE YOU ARE AMAZING.

As you are.

Flaws and imperfections.

Light and dark.

Exactly as you are.

YOU ARE AMAZING. YOU ARE WORTHY. YOU ARE LOVED.

And I am here, ready to help you see that, if you just give me the chance.

Open your heart and be honest with me.

Let me hold the umbrella and weather this storm with you.

Let me show you that you are worth more than the stars in the sky.

Let me help you calm the storm so that you can be all you are meant to be.

Once upon a time, you held my hand through the storm, with the lightning and the thunder screaming around me.

You brought me to the sunshine and helped me make it to my end of the rainbow.

So here, take my hand, take a breath and let’s walk, just one step at a time to the sunshine that is waiting for you.

I love you, and I will help you if you only let me.

Because don’t forget: you deserve the chance to bask in the sun and embrace the light of the stars.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
